  Because that’s not how any of this works.

  For one, modern warfare is always asymmetrical. There’s no fair fights - the weapons are too strong. There’s no way to do this without turning it into a sport, at which point why make it lethal? Either way, the loser could decide to go back to violence

  For two, this isn’t a war, this is denying aid to starving people, then shooting at the bread lines for reasons such as… Showing up too early

  For three, Hamas are hardliners. They want all of Israel, which is obviously impossible. So their method is to make Israel martyr the civilians in the hopes the rest of the world will attack Israel

  For three part 2, Israel is propping up Hamas because they’re hardliners. When Hamas gets to open to a real piece deal, Israel assassinates the moderate (and often the negotiator)

  And beyond all of that… This is violence. This is what happens when you flip the table. We could settle conflict with Yu-Gi-Oh games, but only so long as everyone abides the results.

  We have rules of warfare… But even those are broken all the time. In fact, if everyone followed the rules, both sides would only be allowed to hit military targets. Hamas wouldn’t be able to hide among civilians, so they’d just occasionally attack Israeli troops before running off to a deep hole somewhere. Israel would only be able to attack that hole, so they’d probably occasionally find one and cut the numbers

  So don’t ask why the combatants don’t duke it out… Ask why the rules aren’t working

  I don’t know if it would be correct to say that the civilians have nothing to do with the war. As far as I’m aware, the IDF’s intended target is all Palestinians, civilians included.

  why don’t the US and the Viet Cong just meet at a predetermined place and time so the US can spray agent orange more effectively? All those war crimes in Vietnam could’ve been avoided if the Vietnamese guerillas just surrendered in advance!

  Hamas was what Afghanistan/Osama Bin Laden was to the United States but Palestinians ended up being the Iraq end of the matter for Israel.

  Hell, Palestinians can’t even go to a designated aid station for food without getting massacred by Israel.

    I don’t know if there has ever been this level of discrepancy between availability vs access to aid in a conflict. There’s lots of aid available, but Gaza has zero access to it.

  Because Hamas then wouldn’t stand a chance and prefers to use the civillians as tactical asset to increase there odds, which is asshole-behaviour.
  And because the Israelis decided to don’t care about this civilians any more, which is also asshole behaviour.

  So, in short: because both are assholes.

    They do care, they care because they want to kill as many civilians as possible. That’s why they kept repeatedly bombing the “safe” routes/zones the IDF themselves designated for evacuation dozens of times.

      LOL, telling people to evacuate when there’s no real infrastructure to do so… does not absolve them for committing a genocide.

      I could sail out to the middle of the ocean, put you on a rowboat, and tell you that you’re free to go “safely” and it’s still going to be my fault when your ass drowns.

  Because that only makes sense if both sides are roughly the same size and strength. When one side is outnumbered and outgunned, it is better to hide and ambush.

      Two reasons: First, they actually have a military, generously funded by the US taxpayer. Second, you’re right, it’s so rude for Palestine to directly place their schools and hospitals in the path of American Israeli bombs.
