- Comment on This week I'm reading 'Hamnet' by Maggie O'Farrell. It's 1 week ago:
I am also listening to 'Lies Sleeping' by Ben Aaronovitch.
I'm going to be very sad when I run out of Rivers of London books. I was thinking the other day that this series would be really good for a TV adaptation. I'd definitely watch it, until it inevitably gets cancelled after 2-3 seasons.
I also wonder if I can replace the library's collection of MMPBs of this series, for newer trades if they're available. They would look more appealing on the shelf.

- Comment on This week I'm reading 'Radiant Star' by Ann Leckie. It's slow 3 weeks ago:
I am also listening to the end of 'The Furthest Station' by Ben Aaronovitch and will probably be starting 'Lies Sleeping' on my way home from the astronomy lecture tonight.
I've already said how much I love the Rivers of London books, and this one is just as delightful and filled with delightful ghosts!

- Comment on The other day I mentioned that I started reading 'Radiant Star' by Ann L 3 weeks ago:
You already know about Ann Leckie for me. The other author that I will absolutely read is Claire North. Time and time again, I have found that their writing matches that I like to read almost perfectly.

- Comment on I am also just at the end of 'Children of Memory' by Adrian Tchaikovsky 4 weeks ago:
This also got me to thinking about endings of books. One of my frustrations with a lot of recent books is that I feel that many authors don't really know how to write endings. It's not just that I don't like the ending of the book, it's that I feel there is no actual ending or it's so weak to feel that way.
Too often a 5 star book to me ends up being a 4 or even 3.5 star because the ending just flubs all the goodwill I've given the book. - Submitted 4 weeks ago to bookstodon@fedigroups.social | 1 comment
