This Friday I'm reading 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' by Ray Bradbury.
This is for this month's staff book discussion, but also fits into #SpookyReads2026. I read this a long long time ago, and barely remember it. It's a nice paean to boyhood that leans to the darkness of growing up as opposed to the sweetness of youth presented in 'Dandelion Wine'.
There is also a lot in the book that reminds me of Stephen King and Peter Straub.
I'm also listening to 'When the Wolf Comes Home' by Nat Cassidy.
Not sure how much I like this book yet. It reminds me a bit of Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward in tone, although there is a lot more direct violence in Wolf so far.
I am really enjoying the narrator, Helen Laser, though. So that is helping a lot.
