Once they finish their classes they get a free abduction to Little Saint James!

I know I know. To give up so easily is just fatalism though. You have to at least try where you can.

Github. We use azure too. I trust Microsoft a hell of a lot more than these AI clowns.

Modern compilers have got your back. Simple compile time syntax error are non issues these days for the most part.

I clicked on the link and it opened my steam app on the “enter payment details” page, because I added a load of shit to my basket earlier and aborted because I got a new bank card who’s number I don’t know by heart yet. Something about clicking a lemmy link about steam and it opening the credit card entry page just made me laugh a lot.

Ah fair dos, I’ve not actually tried much gaming on Linux myself. I did try and fail to play tarkov arena but maybe that was Ubuntu just protecting me lol

What distro you on? I tried mint a few years ago and constantly had major issues. It was untenable. I’ve found Ubuntu to be much more stable and forgiving. Linux certainly demands a little more technical knowledge from it’s users but it definitely seems to be getting better year on year.

This is the way. I switched from w11 to Ubuntu recently (using it was like breathing fresh air after being in a traffic jam), and today I switched from excel to libre calc and my thought though was like, oh shit, almost every functionality I use regularly is just visible on the toolbars at the top. Neat.
In excel I usually have to fucking web search where functionality is.

Quite respectful disagreement counts as a “tanty” now?

Came to here to see if anyone would point this out. Calling it a fast lane shows people’s ignorance.
- Comment on Insulin 3 months ago:
Wrong. That’s not what it means, no matter what anyone says on here.
- Comment on Insulin 3 months ago:
Strictly, technically every other way China is still third world. This concept of third world being poor seems to have originated from the common charity ads in the 90s and 2000s who loved the phrase, and from the American exceptionalism that thinks everything not American is dirty and poor.
- Comment on I dunno 3 months ago:
Awesome thanks for explaining that. That’s cool as hell.

Usa is the hub of first world. Russia is the second. Thirds is everyone else.

Third world doesn’t mean poor, it just means not aligned with US or Russia

- Comment on Refrigerator ads are finally here! 3 months ago:
For me its a principle thing too. I’ve always really despised tv adverts back when we only had 4 channels in the UK and I’ve maintained the hatred all these years. If you do even the most cursory dive into marketing you realise the people involved in the industry are the most vile, horrible cunts ever.
Fuck your ads, fuck your marketing. Choose no.
- Comment on Refrigerator ads are finally here! 3 months ago:
I can feel it coming. I’ve started to devest myself anything that dares to show me an ad. It’s liberating. You don’t actually have to live in their algorithmic black box. RSS still exist, fediverse isn’t going anywhere and the constellation of ad blockers are still doing the Lords work. Fuck the marketers.
