- Comment on Fairphone announces the €599 Fairphone 6, with a 6.31" 120Hz LTPO OLED display, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, and enhanced modularity with 12 swappable parts 1 day ago:
If it’s removable you can much more easily recycle it though. Sustainably that ia much much better than average phones.
However, while more sustainable than current it is not the most sustainable if you charge it like that

In terms of the global economy I doubt any of us could raise enough capital to impact corporate strategy
- Comment on America last night 4 days ago:
So the US, Israel, and Germany have been directly involved in this conflict thus far.
Russia is currently in a war with Ukraine as we know, and has announced their support of Iran. North Korea has been sending troops to this conflict. US and much of western Europe is already involved in some way.
China has been reported sending some kind of undisclosed aid to Iran already.
Currently unrelated but Pakistan and India just had a border skirmish. Pakistan does border Iran.
There’s a lot of instability and World Wars worth of countries involved already. It truly wouldn’t take much to start connecting some of these conflicts. If that happens it gets much bigger
- Comment on Due to American politics I'm afraid of using high speed rail in Germany 2 weeks ago:
Honestly as an American, when I visited Germany I bought a deutschland and used regional transit to travel most of the country. I used the DB navigator app.
It was hands down the best travel of my life. Just hop on a train and go anywhere. The delays were usually well recorded in the app and I could usually just reroute.
I was traveling for leisure though so waiting an extra 10 minutes was not a big deal, but all the city transit and local trains seemed to be mostly on time. Regional were the only ones I encountered with delays.

Then as I said we’re already cooked. But also that is demonstrably false anyway. Our judiciary is under heavy threat, but still functioning

I doubt they will find anything of use. The most powerful thing I can do is slow them down. It’s rhe best use of my privilege

I bring my phone. I likely won’t be breaking any laws, and I can afford a lawyer. So yeah arrest me and waste the system’s time. Just another data point they have to sort

You are well within your rights to protest using any flag your like. Don’t buy the bullshit.

I’d say 30% are all for what’s happening and 10% are convinced the dems will put babies into to blenders and will always vote red. The remaining 10% switch their vote back and forth depending on how they feel about the economy. If they think it’s good the will vote for the incumbent, if they think it’s bad they vote for the other canidate. Then there are 2-3% of people that pick a random issue as their focus every year
- Comment on British photojournalist hit during Los Angeles protests to undergo emergency surgery 2 weeks ago:
You can’t just shoot people that aren’t breaking any laws. Press or not.
What they’ll lie and tell you is that a gathering can be declared illegal, but that’s bullshit. If I’m standing there peacefully and someone else does something illegal I have not violated the law. I should not be guilty by association and I should not be stripped of my rights to peacefully assemble.

This is exactly what I was hoping to find. I typically browse through all and picked lemm.ee for their moderation style.
I’m sad to see it go.
- Comment on Is lemm.we actually shutting down? 3 weeks ago:
I do typically browse by all so lemmy.dbzer0.com may be the better option. I like how lemm.ee wasn’t defederated from that many instances
- Comment on Is lemm.we actually shutting down? 3 weeks ago:
Anyone have suggestions for similar instances?
I assume my user account will also go down? I’m new to the lemmy community so I don’t know how this would interfere with me being able to comment and post on other instances from this account
- Comment on The solution to many problems 3 weeks ago:
I think there’s a difference between prepared food and processed food. It can be a blurry line though.
Maybe it is just being European though. American food standards are trash. The stuff allowed in our food is insane
- Comment on The solution to many problems 3 weeks ago:
This is a bit disingenuous. When listed like that on food it’s because all of those were added in individually to create an ultra processed amalgamation resembling food. Otherwise ingredients would just say bannana.
Processed foods have been clinically shown to be harmful to us. Bannanas seem to be okay

We need a corporate death penalty. If your company murders people it should be dismantled and sold off.
I’d love it if the senior executives also faced charges, but I’d compromise

Archaeologist here, maybe it’s just new wave training but widely taught that it’s not an easy task to sex skeletons on morphology alone.
Sure some features appear more commonly amongst men and some more commonly amongst women, but there is considerable overlap.
Pelvis are generally identifiable, but the bio-archaeologists I know prefer to say the skeleton displays female characteristics without providing a definitive biological sex. They have to have some great evidence before claiming for certain.
Also fun fact, you can’t measure this morphology when there’s still skin and muscle fucking attached.

Construction or archeology?
- Comment on Hotel prices 2 months ago:
It really depends. Holiday Inn Express can run close to 115-125 depending on location and nearby events. And there are certainly a lot of hotels under 100.
But if you’re anywhere near a decent metro under 100 is basically non-existent

Shame, I have strong opinions around Discovery. Mostly because every episode is “fate of the universe” and character development arcs usually fizzle our with little actual change in the characters
