Honestly I thought their vpn was only on paid plans. Kinda impressed they offer it free. I assume it’s a way to get people into the ecosystem and also use their email and etc

Ya if you are hosting it yourself then pretty different. I use them for a basic Nextcloud server myself. Their ARM servers are dirt cheap even when you have to go above their free generous cores and ram.

One of the recent posts has someone with an engagement ring like they are getting married to an AI… it’s sad, I feel like society as really isolated and failed many groups of people.

Maybe in the early days when the Apple II was hot on the market but idk even then. Capitalist are going to do their capitalism.

Ya but I am pretty sure Google has done a lot to help Trump. Any big tech company wants to be on the good side of Trump.

Honestly I am pretty sure this is a bribe to exempt Apple from tariffs. Billionaires care more about their profit than children being harm. It’s the sad truth.

Ya I feel really conflicted about it but I do think the outcome in the long run is good.

I just sum it up to a failure of capitalism . The fact that two companies have so much power over this without having to pass any laws or legislation is really the worrying part. I just hope people continue to fight even after this one thing is resolved. Otherwise it will happen again because that’s how capitalism works

I mean yes duh but wouldn’t it be great to have European owned data centers running Linux?

Why are there no major competitors outside the USA? Is there no “Silicon Valley” in the EU?
- Comment on Gamers Bombard Visa & MasterCard With Emails and Calls Over Steam and itch.io Censorship 3 weeks ago:
It’s impressive how much people get riled up about not getting porn. I don’t blame them but I also don’t see this as activism, I doubt anyone really spending the time on this cares about possible future censorship that others who are not them may face, they just want to buy their porn.

- Comment on Is Matrix cooked? 2 months ago:
Also there are not many competitors to Matrix. Just XMPP for the most part. SimpleX and Signal are not good at supporting chat rooms with large amounts of people. Telegram does it okay but isn’t decentralized.
- Comment on Study: Remote working benefits fathers while childless men miss sense of community 2 months ago:
You know there are always outliers because research often looks at populations in general and not the exact experience of a specific person. Unless it’s a case study but that’s different.
Either way that’s a really good thing for you, the modern world makes it difficult to make and keep close to friends.
- Comment on Fyre Festival is becoming a music streaming service that might not be a scam this time 3 months ago:
Seems pointless. There are a ton of existing music streaming services. It’s a cut throat slim profit margin business.
- Comment on Angry, disappointed users react to Bluesky's upcoming blue check mark verification system 3 months ago:
It’s what Twitter had and most people on blueksy just want Twitter before Elon. It sucks but that is really what the majority of people even want. They don’t care about the decentralized stuff.

Tbh I’ve seen more people asking for this than the people complaining.

Based on what I’ve seen in their forums it will be a paid service. I think it will be free at first for beta testers but I assume they are targeting people who currently use services like Proton.

Tbh because it was the one shared on Reddit. Though if you have the right browser extensions when I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
