The ecosystem is really seamless, especially with a MacBook and Apple watch in the mix.
Though I don’t think there is any winning in the smartphone space. There is a duopoly and even if you personally use graphineOS you still are benefitting and helping the Google ecosystem by using Android apps.
Sadly I don’t think we can “vote with our wallets” on smartphones. We need legal legislation that forces both Apple and Google to be consumer friendly.

Ya a few apps already do this. YouTube premium does for sure and I have heard a few others doing so.

Ya I always subscribe on the website. Google and Apple have both charged extra fees for monthly subscriptions bought within the app.
- Comment on Apple to Soon Take Up to 30% Cut From All Patreon Creators in iOS App 2 days ago:
Iirc it has to do with “monthly subscriptions” and they are arguing that Patreon is a monthly subscription and those get charged at the higher amount.
It’s why subscribing to YouTube premium within iOS app costs more because Google just makes up the difference that way.
Not that’s it’s right but it’s really debatable if Patreon should be considered a monthly subscription the same way streaming services are.

Also I just noticed that the borders no longer line up and it looks like there is ocean in between which isn’t the case. So I shows the size more accurately but is not useable as a map really.

How can it be the true size if it’s still a projection on a 2d surface? I thought could only see the true size on a 3d globe.

Many do but it’s a nightmare for SEO. When people use Substack or Medium it’s because they have built in social network that allows strangers to easily find your blog. Sadly independent blogs don’t really make money unless you are already famous with a network to follow you.

They are based out of the USA aren’t they? Luckily there are many Nextcloud providers in EU and email like mailbox.org
- Comment on What the Linux desktop really needs to challenge Windows 5 weeks ago:
Linux as we know it being very customizable and having many choices will never work for mass market. If Linux becomes a truly mass market consumer OS then it will be within walled garden of a large corporation like Google or others.
Everyday people want a computer with a brand name they recognize and for it to just work with all the big name software they know already. They likely won’t even know they are using Linux, it’s something us nerds will know but to them they are just using Google, Microsoft, Meta, or whoever else gets Linux to mass adoption.

10 out of a 1000 to 30ish out of a 1000 doesn’t even seem like a massive increase, especially if it’s really due to something like a pain medication that is taken by a huge population. Which it’s not as it’s more related to improvements in diagnosing.
I guess they are just hoping people see bar go up and therefore bad.

Pretty sure Spotify approves of it. They don’t care about artists they are there for profit.

Lossless music doesn’t matter when it’s all AI generated crap.

Not sure if that project will go anywhere, it doesn’t seem like it from the GitHub. Though from the people I’ve talked to, they like IRC because it’s simple without things like reactions and etc.

Honestly I thought their vpn was only on paid plans. Kinda impressed they offer it free. I assume it’s a way to get people into the ecosystem and also use their email and etc

Ya if you are hosting it yourself then pretty different. I use them for a basic Nextcloud server myself. Their ARM servers are dirt cheap even when you have to go above their free generous cores and ram.
