You can buy a Tuff Shed for $20k with foundation installment, insulate it yourself, all for less than $27k. Toss in electrical, and water; you’re looking at around $40k. Permits and such will probably add another $10-$15k. Overall, you’re looking at $80k for a tiny home in a major city versus homes that go for more than $600k. Rurally in my county, I’ve seen homes go for $300k, so you’re still saving a fuckton of money.
Tiny living absolutely goes against capitalism and our need to consume more than what we can handle to be further in debt by those who control the means.

Corporations are buying up homes to rent them out or tear them down to build small condos to rent out.
Land is limited in America and it’ll get worse. Before covid I didnt buy a 5 acre lot for $4k because it was out in the desert + wife was unsure of job opportunities. The same lot today is going for $20k.

It’s not just tiny homes are getting up their in price; they are extremely affordable. The issue is you’ll need to place it on a foundation and once you do, you’ll be beholden to the same permits as a regular sized house which can add a tremendous expense. Sure, you can go the trailer/on wheels route, but that opens up to other issues such as home theft (literally) to cities outright not allowing it on your lot.
Also take into consideration that a lot of municipalities do not like tiny homes as it goes against the look of the town/city, to some even outright banning them to having exorbitant fees placed on them.
I’ve looked into tiny homes and to save money, I would have to move out to the rural areas where I am permitted to build them without being hassles by the city. Oh, and if your neighbor doesn’t like your home, you can definitely expect frequent visits from the city inspectors to fuck your day over.
All I want is a tiny home, and a big front/backyard to garden/self-sustain my family.

- Comment on School pickup lines are wild 2 weeks ago:
You can ride any vehicle you want, but will also be opened up to criticism in your decision. No need to drive a massive dodge ram thats 5’ lifted. There was a study that shows those type of trucks cannot see pedestrians in front of them, posing a risk to school children and distracted drivers.
The real issue is Big Auto circumventing laws to make these massive vehicles to avoid paying additional taxes on fuel efficient cars.
At my kids school, there’s quite a few lifted vehicles with pristine paint jobs, letting others know that they never take their car out on trails let alone use it for what it’s made for. Pathetic pavement princesses.

I would love to support my LCS, but unfortunately they’re in the scalper business as I caught the owners wiping out inventory at the Big Box stores.
- Comment on card game shop 2 weeks ago:
Some LCS’s (local card shops) are more Magic focused, some are more Pokémon focused, as well as Yugioh focused. They’ll still sell other product, but most likely have a core group of players who show up to play one type of game.
The LCS I used to go to sold everything, but it was largely known to be the spot to play MTG/have tournaments consistently versus their Pokémon days.

Beneath the layers is Microsoft allowing a fascist regime, that Microsoft donated money to, to use their IP in facist promoting material.
I look forward to the day Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Apple get broken up.

These arricles are meant to be rage bait for the techno-illiterate. As you said, cell phones mapped your house long ago as well as your smart TV, or any appliance that requires an internet connection.
People traded in their privacy for convenience.

Germans were normal people who turned a blind eye to concentration camps as they continued on with their lives.
Just like how the majority of Americans turn a blind eye to the modern Gestapo rounding up anyone who is brown, and sending them off without due process.

You speak from privilege to think there were good times in America. If you’re a minority, you knew that was bullshit. If you knew US History, then everything is a facade.

I try to sell my excess produce below grocery store pricing, but people at the meet ups always tell me how they dont have enough money or got no money, if I can give it to them for free.
Now I just give it to a food bank
- Comment on Banana 3 weeks ago:
The trick is to get the green/light green bananas as they begin to ripen. Buying yellow to slightly darker yellow bananas will shorten their shelf life tremendously.
I’m not a fan of freezing them as they’ll still continue to ripen. Your best case scenario if you start seeing them browning out is to make some banana bread or mix it in cupcake/cake mix.
Or stick it up your butt.
- Comment on Big Brother just got an upgrade. Starting December, Amazon’s Ring cameras will scan and recognize faces. Don’t want to be in their database? Too bad — walk past a Ring and your face can be stored... 1 month ago:
I really don’t care what Amazon does with Ring’s facial recognition. The populace doesnt give a fuck and trust me, I tried to give a damn but its like going up against a tide of stupidity that keeps smashing. No one bats an eye with Costco/WalMart/Target facial recognition software, let alone caring enough how companies like Apple sell your data or manipulate your wants/needs down to the pervasive marketing tactics that are threading the line of psyops.
Idiocracy came a lot sooner than expected and there is no closing that Pandora’s box. I still try to refrain from and mask my digital footprint, but sadly with how how easily our data is passed around like a ladyboy aboard a navy ship, we’re doomed

I applaud her for fighting against the ocean tide. Our clothes are made from slave/child labor as well as most of our electronics. Expecting fellow Microsoft employees who are very comfortable in their position to give that up because of AI killing people?
I absolutely hate how apathetic the world is. It should never be “that’s the way it is” because we, humans, let it get this far. Are corporations to be blamed, consumers, or both?
Who’s turn is it to pass the hot potato?
