There is nothing indicating success that I spotted.

While this does fit this community’s subject broadly this does not feel like a discussion that should have a place anywhere.
A student did a righteous dum-dum. Some people use it to further their political goals. There is zero meat on this story.
- Comment on How solar panels generate electricity 1 week ago:
No. The issue is solar panels getting much cheaper. The advantage of solar thermic plants are low cost of panels in exchange for more difficulty to maintain. This stops making sense when solar panels become dirt cheap and they cannot shift their power generation outside of peak solar(easily possible with molten salt tanks for the night, but not free)
- Comment on Thanks, Google. Very cool. 1 week ago:
Note that Google never did false advertisement. If you think your browser not saving a history makes you immune to scrutiny you are not being reasonable.
- Comment on How solar panels generate electricity 1 week ago:
Parabolic plants also exist w/o a tower of sauron.
- Comment on How solar panels generate electricity 1 week ago:
(these are solar thermic power plants, their panels are black and usually assisted by mirrors leading to a similar look)

Why are you doing that recreationally? How are you different from a researcher?
- Comment on Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAM 1 week ago:
Why are you doing that on a network storage as opposed to on device?

Ok, but what are they doing that moves loads of random files?
- Comment on Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAM 1 week ago:
I was trying to convey confusion as to what a cheap microcomputer could even be used for that needs that much fast storage. They ought not to be using it for scientific compute, that’s for sure.

That works with a raspberry? Those tiny 10€ microcomputers?

Does Samsung even sell a small SSD? I thought they start at like 128GB

M2 slots are standard for more than a decade.
- Comment on Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAM 1 week ago:
Fair point. What the fuck are you doing with it?
- Comment on Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAM 1 week ago:
SATA is not intended for fast storage devices but bulk storage, at this point.
- Comment on Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAM 1 week ago:
Ok. But then you are not a regular person running a regular home server but an enthusiast with small scale commercial needs.

And most are wrong or unnecessary. What movie requires SSD performance?
- Comment on Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAM 1 week ago:
If you need SATA SSDs you are not a home user.
Just use a HDD for your bulk needs and a SSD m2.

- Comment on Skier narrowly avoids a crevasse 2 weeks ago:
Yes. But is ice skating skating?
Skiing is usually used to refer to skiing on maintained ski areas downhill or cross country skiing.
Doing it on foreign terrain which you clearly don’t know well enough and at speed is leaving the bounds of regular skiing.
- Comment on Skier narrowly avoids a crevasse 2 weeks ago:
It should. And this ain’t skiing. This is skiing in unknown unmaintained and unsafe terrain.
- Comment on Getting too expensive 3 weeks ago:
Maximizing profits by increasing price does not work in commodity markets unless you are forming a cartel or monopoly. If your goods are fungible you don’t have customer loyalty.
