Men leaving a metaphorical trail is different to me from painting the map. They was showed a journey, an individual not an empire.

A rock so heavy you cannot lift it is not an immovable object. Just cause you are weak does not mean you are right.

500m is bigger than you think. Also fines escalate.

Which is much cheaper than this car. Prices for small cars must go down(and big car prices going way up seems fine, TBf)
- Comment on [deleted] 4 weeks ago:
I don’t live in car land. Hence I don’t commute or shop groceries via car. Charging seems a hassle for typical trips, but I am not an experienced driver. I want mini cars to be cheaper, not go farther, so using one is more sensible.
- Comment on [deleted] 4 weeks ago:
I struggle to believe that. Packing more batteries does not mean size has to increase by a lot. the biggest part of car volume is air anyway.

17k for not even 200km range sucks. EVs must get cheaper.

There is no vegan butter that holds a candle to real butter though. And there are also feces in flour and most other foodstuffs. Can’t reliably pest proof food stores and fields without exterminating all life. Just cause it sounds disgusting doesn’t mean it is.
- Comment on No Weirdos 5 weeks ago:
To be fair: sometimes you really need two free hands. Great for situations like that, like driving a manual.

Since we are already being unhelpful: Atheist don’t all are unsure about if God exists. Some may believe God does not exist, some don’t care. Some believers might be unsure or don’t care either.
- Comment on Self-Driving Teslas Are Fatally Striking Motorcyclists More Than Any Other Brand: New Analysis 1 month ago:
“Critical Thinker” Yikes. Somehow the right made that a forbidden word in my mind because they hide behind that as an excuse for asking terrible questions etc.
Anyway. Allegedly the statistics are rather mediocre for self driving cars. But sadly I haven’t seen a good statistic about that, either. The issue here is that automatable tasks are lower risk driving situations so having a good statistic is near impossible. E.g. miles driven are heavily skewed when you are only used on highways as a driver. There are no simple numbers that will tell you anything of worth.
That being said the title should be about the mistake that happened without fundamental statements (i.e. self driving is bad because motorcyclists die).
- Comment on YSK that in the US, denaturalization, the process of revoking a person's citizenship, does not require proof "Beyond reasonable doubt" 1 month ago:
To be fair: Beyond reasonable doubt is the highest certainty.
It is probably impossible to achieve that for some of the things you might justifiably deport someone.
The clear and convincing proof part is also plainly ignored, so that’s not the issue. The issue is a government that will execute its agenda no matter the law. You cannot stop that within the law as it is void.

It is certainly on the upper end of what dogs can do without inflicting harm on their body, but a one off doesn’t have to be harmless.

Horses are animals for doing work, not eating. You wouldn’t slaughter a trained ox either.
- Comment on A "Sign in with fediverse" button? 1 month ago:
My Lemmy instance only owns this account, not secondary accounts on separate websites
- Comment on A "Sign in with fediverse" button? 1 month ago:
But why? Just use a password manager instead of tying your identity to a Lemmy instance which you do not control.
Having SSO is reliant on having a single trusted server which has your password instead of you maintaining it yourself. This is just an unnecessary risk.

- Comment on Owing your home today is nearly impossible, but even if you did the ever increasing property taxes will bury you 2 months ago:
At that point the term renting becomes something else entirely and therefore useless to discriminate between renters and homeowners. this discrimination is useful, hence we must not weaken our language.

- Comment on Owing your home today is nearly impossible, but even if you did the ever increasing property taxes will bury you 2 months ago:
We don’t rent it from them. We pay for continued ownership. The difference being that eviction is not possible and you do not need permits unless you do something more involved to your property. Calling it renting discounts the complexities that renting brings with it. The costs of renting usually are much higher than property taxes.
- Comment on Owing your home today is nearly impossible, but even if you did the ever increasing property taxes will bury you 2 months ago:
Certified psycho. If you think owning a plot of land within a country does not have an opportunity cost you are wrong. If you think people imposing costs on others shouldn’t pay for it say it out loud.
Just go and found your own country already, you just need a gun in order to enforce your ownership. In the end a state is just the monopoly of force in a place.
- Comment on This speaks for itself 2 months ago:
When places go bust faster resale value is more important. this means you need to build generic buildings that hold value when sold or rented.
