I agree. The only application that is fine for this in my opinion is using it solely for entertainment, as a toy.
The problem is of course that everyone and their mothers are pouring billions into what clearly should only be used as a toy, expecting it to perform miracles it currently can not and might never be able to pull off.

Its not chatgpt that’s just default config u can use the API endpoint to point to any chatgpt api compatible llm.
Since the issue with hallucinations is shared by all LLMs, not just ChatGPT, this doesn't change anything.
- Comment on We have to stop ignoring AI’s hallucination problem 5 months ago:
Are you seriously trying to push your ChatGPT "tool" in response to an article about language models like this one having substantial issues? "Not guaranteed" - yes, obviously, that's the point of the article - and from a quick look at your code, I don't see how this nonsense addresses any of that.

Imagine the Papal States never dissolving and becoming a nuclear-armed power in the 20th century, using the threat of nuclear annihilation to maintain their independence and increase their global influence.
That would be an interesting alternative history scenario.

- Comment on Qualcomm benchmarking controversy: What's happening? 6 months ago:
Both reported numbers that were nowhere close to what Qualcomm promised. How not close? Above 50% this time but one used the term “Celeron” to describe performance.
There is no harsher way to describe the performance of a CPU. Ouch.

Lots of people are already doing that. I've seen kits of solar cells and batteries being sold.
- Comment on EU tells Meta it can't paywall privacy 7 months ago:
Very interesting. Lots of news websites are operating on a very similar principle, with the user having to either accept all cookies or pay for an expensive subscription that allows them to opt out of tracking cookies. I've always thought that this couldn't possibly be legal.

The problem in both cases is that people remember these artistic depiction as real, even if there's a disclosure.

You can make the camera blind with a sticker or one of those slidey cover things, although it's much more annoying since that fad of cut outs for cameras has started.
Also, like I said in the other comment, my phone isn't attached to my chest like a body cam and constantly in a position to film everything in the room. If the NSA wants to see my feet, the ceiling or my face, they are free to do so.
- Comment on Humane AI Pin: much-hyped gadget rocked by bad reviews 7 months ago:
Sure, but at least my phone doesn't have a wide-angle lens that could be constantly filming everything.
- Comment on Apple keeps flogging 8GB of RAM for its Mac computers but it's still a dead horse 7 months ago:
My mid-range 2014 laptop has this little. This was considered the minimum for a productivity-oriented device a decade ago.
Much to my annoyance, it's also one of the first laptops with non-upgradeable RAM, which I didn't know beforehand. It's still usable, but I'm using Firefox instead of Chrome (so 50 tabs are no issue) and it's never been my primary device.

They can be pro or against Israel, but this article, which you likely didn't even read, is entirely factual.
- Comment on Humane AI Pin: much-hyped gadget rocked by bad reviews 7 months ago:
One of few good aspects about it, but only if you don't think about it too much. The question remains is if you can actually trust this, because there is no physical button disconnecting microphone and camera. It's all just in software and could be unsafe.

My first Android phone from 2010 was better at this and it didn't even have multitouch and just 160 MB of usable storage.

China is the one aspect that unites all three. They are supporting Russia in their invasion of Ukraine, they are running a massive pro-Hamas disinformation campaign on social media, they are ramping up for an invasion of Taiwan and TikTok is their most effective propaganda and espionage tool to date.
- Comment on House Moves Toward Bundling TikTok Bill With Aid to Ukraine and Israel 7 months ago:
It's not for "uncensored pro-Palestine activism", it's a primary vector for distributing blatant propaganda and misinformation. China is one of the big three who are aggressively pushing a pro-Hamas narrative on social media:

- Comment on Microsoft is blocking Windows Customization Tools 7 months ago:
Good news hidden in the article:
Like in the case of StartAllBack, you can bypass the block by simply renaming the executable to something else. If you want to upgrade to a newer build, delete the app, update your system, and then launch it using a renamed executable.
@OP: People who are modifying Windows this deeply are not going to switch to Linux. If you're going through this much trouble, you've already tried Linux several times and left disillusioned every time. Linux does not compete with Windows as a desktop operating system and I doubt it ever will. It simply does not offer the compatibility and ease of use (including for power users) that Windows - for all its faults - has.
