Not exactly the same but seeing actual people, talking to them, interacting vs. watching something on a computer screen is also no where near the same thing.

You can watch a video of someone eating an A5 wagyu steak, but I’d rather eat a less expensive steak myself. Pixels vs reality…

Sometimes I wish I could do that, just ignore all logic and believe what you want.
So those people starving in Africa? Oh no God’s plan.
People getting killed in Gaza? Also God’s plan
That Kirk guy getting shot? Evil left, nothing to do with God.
Immigrants trying to find a better life in a different country? The worst people, nothing to do with God.
Aunt Marget died of cancer? Poor Marget, she was just unlucky,
It did not help she had no health insurance? No thats not it, that’s communism

For child toys that beep I used to put some tape on the speaker holes. But my kid used to take it off. You can cut a wire or desolder, but my simpe fix was a glob of glue directly on the speaker it turns it down like 80%. So some sound, but definitely not as annoying.

I’m not even sure what you are trying to say here, science and empathy are 2 very different things. This is a very oversimplified version, but science should only be about answering if assumptions we have are true or false, based on enough evidence.

I have a 5 year old kid that only wants to pee standing but (despite me telling him not to) he never lifts the seat. Unfortunately some guys never seem to grow beyond 5 years old…
- Comment on Hmm this "unisex" bathroom seems biased... 5 weeks ago:
Well yeah, but way too many lazy guys just pee.
- Comment on Hmm this "unisex" bathroom seems biased... 5 weeks ago:
As a guy please leave it up, when I need to poop I really don’t want to sit on a seat with pee splatter all over. If it’s really unisex I think most women rather put it down than sit on a wet toiletseat.

I can totally understand, the American example would be.
As a kid you are told about Santa Clause and his little helper elfs.
Now that you are an adult you have learned that the elves are actually bases on slaves and the color of their skin is als based on that.
To you it’s just an elf and you never associated them with history or slavery. If fact as a kid you are told they have this color from the chimney.
So in reality both are true, people that grew up with zwarte Piet are not necessarily racist, but the entire tradition is based on historical context and therefore racist.

I’m not from Japan, I’m from Europe. I understand how fucked up the US is for regular hard working people. That is why those people should be paid a living wage, not depend on the kindness of people tipping. This entire system needs to be replaced, and it can start from either the government or people refusing to tip. If people stop tipping wages are going up, or restaurants basically can’t find people willing to do it anymore.

Thank god in the Netherlands we first have to have the zwartepieten discussie.
For anyone out of the loop this is a tradition that is changing but some boomers get really mad about changing it.

I’m just going to say it, I kind of like her Christmas song, just hearing it once or twice around Christmas is fine (for me).
I don’t listen to radio or watch (cable) TV, so I don’t get bombarded with Christmas songs. It’s like one of those hipster beers with ingredients like strawberry short cake, in small doses it’s fine.

Go to the govt? Really? In Japan there is no tipping culture, in fact a tip is seen as an insult. Do you really think that has anything to do with their government? Well maybe the exception is that the US allows this BS by not having a decent minimum wage for any job.
Second you completely ignore parts of my response, so if you need to tip the full amount, why is is fair to tip lower at a cheaper restaurant? These people work just as hard.
But let’s go even deeper, you say I’m selfish because these people provide a service? So what? My mailman provides a service, the roadworker that fixed the road I use every day provides a service? Why is tipping even a thing? I need to pay extra for someone doing the job they got hired for?

The thing about it costs about the same as Spotify is not really true. I have been using Spotify family for a long long time (maybe 10 years). I use it with 5 other “family” members and we split the costs.

I don’t really follow this reasoning, so a drink cost X but you calculate Y because at other times it costs Y.
So if you go to a cheap restaurant you increase your tip because the restaurant next door has higher prices? The staff in the cheap restaurant works just as hard, maybe harder.
This whole tip thing need to die ASAP. If everybody just stopped tipping staff would get a normal pay or a better paying other job. But if you don’t tip, how do you show appreciation?? Well, do you tip your wife when she does something nice for you?? No, so people can show appreciation without money.

This is what everyone I know that had one told me. The operation was not that bad, maybe a 5/10 on pain. The days after my ballsack was getting really purple blue and parts of my penis also. After about a week I went to a doctor to make sure this was “normal”, he said everything looked ok, but I’m just unlucky as for most guys it is almost painless. About 10 days after things got better in a couple of days.
I don’t want to scare anyone but going in thinking it will not hurt is not for everyone. For me thinking it shouldn’t hurt (while it did) made me worry much more, thinking they might have messed something up.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
Meh, it’s definitely not 100% chance of success. Every year that passes reduces the chance of a succes to reverse it. Also there is always a risk for other complications like ending up with erectile dysfunction, the chance is really small, but I wouldn’t take it too lightly. Mine also hurt like hell for a week and everything was purple blue. I’m probably the exception, but I definitely don’t want to do it a second time.

My local gas station now has screens on the pump. Not the big unit, but the part you put in your gastank. It shows shitty ads. Also in the Netherlands you can’t lock the gas pump, so you have to manually press it to get more fuel, so you are almost forced to watch shitty ads.
It’s exactly like this team-bhp.com/…/ads-fuel-dispenser-nozzle-havent-s…

I also had the Nexus 6P, great phone, loved it. Had some phones after that, but a few years ago I “upgraded” to a Pixel 6 Pro. That phone was a lot shittier in many ways, like no headphone jack or SD slot. But also Googles own software felt kind of buggy. My Nexus had very little problems with USBC but my Pixel somehow was a magnet to dust. I needed to do a tooth pick cleanup every other month.

I would say make sure people have a clear way of becoming legal immigrants. If they are legal, make sure the labor laws are enforced. So no paying under minimum wage, make sure the workplace is a safe place, etc.
