- Comment on News outlets in crisis mode as Google-led AI search push crushes website traffic 2 weeks ago:
I meant why would people advertise on Google if it won’t convert to clicks anymore?
- Comment on News outlets in crisis mode as Google-led AI search push crushes website traffic 2 weeks ago:
Wouldn’t this kill their ad revenue? Which is like…most of their revenue?
- Comment on ChatGPT 'got absolutely wrecked' by Atari 2600 in beginner's chess match — OpenAI's newest model bamboozled by 1970s logic 2 weeks ago:
I’ve used agents for implementing entire APIs and front-ends from the ground up with my own customizations and nuances.
I will say that, for my pedantic needs, it typically only gets about 80-90% of the way there so I still have to put fingers to code, but it definitely saves a boat load of time in those instances.

I’ve found Claude 3.7 and 4.0 and sometimes Gemini variants still leagues better than ChatGPT/Copilot.
Still not perfect, but night and day difference.
I feel like ChatGPT didn’t focus on coding and instead focused on mainstream, but I am not an expert.

I’m stocking up on guns and ammo at the moment. I’m trying to build an armory and pantry of like 6-12 months of living and Nazi killing.

Good. I hope it does. Nationwide. In large numbers. Fuck them all.

ChatGPT has been, hands down, the worst AI coding assistant I’ve ever used.
It regularly suggests code that doesn’t compile or isn’t even for the language.
It generally suggests AC of code that is just a copy of the lines I just wrote.
Sometimes it likes to suggest setting the same property like 5 times.
It is absolute garbage and I do not recommend it to anyone.

Hadn’t heard of this guy but you sold me. He sounds amazing.
- Comment on Duolingo CEO on going AI-first: ‘I did not expect the blowback’ 2 weeks ago:
I work for an AI company and even we thought what he said was stupid. I hope he gets what he deserves…but unfortunately I don’t know if that’s how capitalism in America works as of late.
- Comment on I'm still not sure how to do this actually oh wait maybe... nope. 2 weeks ago:
Dear god. I’m going to have a nightmare about that tonight I think. Just the weird awkward weight…the odd humidity nearby…the impending thought of mildew…

And socks.

I run Linux too, but I have to use windows for some contract jobs.
- Comment on Microsoft’s Recall feature is still threat to privacy despite recent tweaks 2 weeks ago:
How’d you do that? I’ve made registry tweaks, group policy tweaks, etc and my windows machine still eventually hits a limit where it forces updates around the 12 week mark. Granted it’s still longer than before, it isn’t completely disabled.

I’m sorry your joke didn’t land, I, for one, snorted air out my nostrils quite handily.
- Comment on Google is going ‘all in’ on AI. It’s part of a troubling trend in big tech 3 weeks ago:
I guess that makes some sense, I loathe Jira but I think it’s largely because everywhere I’ve worked that uses Jira has poorly customized it and just ruined the experience.
- Comment on Microsoft Shifts Xbox Gaming Handheld Ambitions to Third-Party Windows Handhelds, Postpones 2027 Launch Plans 3 weeks ago:
There is absolutely zero chance a windows handheld gaming device succeeds, what the actual fuck are they thinking, lol.
- Comment on Google is going ‘all in’ on AI. It’s part of a troubling trend in big tech 3 weeks ago:
You might be joking but I honestly think that’s the case. It’s wild to me. I’ve worked for Fortune 500 companies using SNOW and everybody hated it and regularly voiced complaints and issues and yet the company refused to change. Started doing shit like releasing more training docs on how to use it or doing brown bag lunches on SNOW effectiveness.
But ultimately none of that mattered, it is just inherently garbage.

I didn’t even know this existed and I use Ghostery.

the fuck does service now even need AI for?
I hate any company I work for that uses ServiceNow. And now it’s getting worse??
- Comment on T-Mobile secretly records iPhone screens and claims it's being helpful. 3 weeks ago:
Definitely not OK. But it exists and I don’t think people realize it goes beyond tracking clicks to taking actual screenshots that can be stitched together practically as a video. It sucks.

Can’t wait for the robo taxis to get vandalized.
Barring that, can’t wait until they fail miserably.
- Comment on T-Mobile secretly records iPhone screens and claims it's being helpful. 4 weeks ago:
Yup. Worked briefly for a company that would “snapshot” the browser view quite often, enough where if an issue arose we could somewhat replay the user’s interactions to try and repro the issue.

Oh, no, I think based on other articles the horse died of other causes. But the consensus amongst people I know is that this was just fucked up animal torture on some level.
Like, I’m fine if the horse was also fine and seemed into skydiving. I just have zero evidence of that.
- Comment on What a wonderful world we live in! 4 weeks ago:
Someone please feel free to enlighten me, but my horse riding friends say this is pretty fucked up and not something the horse would ever get used to.

In another thread someone told me you can buy gems or something to keep your streak going.
That would’ve made me uninstall long before his comments.

Every time I go to SO I have to deal with CloudFlare checks or captchas. I’m not genuinely not sure why, but it has kept me from clicking SO links from search engines first. Not even using a VPN. Kind of odd.

- Comment on In the U.S., are all voting booth areas required to have carbon monoxide detectors? 5 weeks ago:
Ohhhhh. Okay, yeah, so I worked for a data aggregation company for a time and there was absolutely an odd (personally identified) correlation between lead exposure areas of the US and heavily red voting.

I’m super curious why you’re asking.
