I am curious, how is india and pakistan doing what they do best a cause for a global conflict? In the two last ones it was a bunch of uropean states tied together through silly treaties and pacts and a whole lot of countries coming together to stamp out tue nazis, respectively.
India and pakistan are neighbors and essentially two sides of the same coin with different religions, and as far as i know have no defensive pacts with any major outside power. So even if they went to full blown war it would stay fairly confined to the region, no? Excluding considerations such as trade impact of course.

Complete brain damage in charge. It is one thing to suppress uncomfortable data not supporting your ideoligical narrative, but it is outright stupidity to not only not collect that data and keep it under wraps; but to destroy the data collection device you own and control.

Lets say i sell you one thing for 5 bucks. And i also want to sell you 100 of the things for 500 bucks. Are these the same deal to you? Why not? The savings are the same no?
- Comment on Do you think GOG might be the next? 2 weeks ago:
That’s such an unnecessary gotcha response lol. Obviously they are reliant on those payment processors for their revenue, which is the very reason they are complying.
The point is that those two payment processors essentially run credit card payments in the west, and use that dominance to force their values on their clients.

… The formula is 1/2 your age + 7 tho.
So for that 27 year old dating a teenager it would certainly not be okay. 27/2=13.5+7 which i would generously round down to 20 years of appropriate minimum age.

I agree that a lot of shows and movies, especially the more recent ones, have little rewatchability. You could always replace those with an armful of whatever is current and on your watchlist after you are done though.
And personally i have a couple of evergreens and classics i enjoy watching again now and then, and it is nice to know i always have something to watch even if i cant afford the subscription any more / the stuff i like gets region locked / fucking licensing pulls the rug. It also feels a little empowering to have my own stuff that really is just mine and nobody can revoke my viewing permissions, in the face of endless enshittification.
As for the media server, i am not tech savvy enough myself to run one so i just bought a large ass external drive. When i am away from home i just bring that thing and can watch my stuff on any computer and generally also tv i plug it into.

The key words here being “left with a library”. Your media, now and forever, at no additional cost, available whenever you want. I could not go back to netflix etc.

Personally I would assume the person who has me reaching into their pocket knowingly that I will injure myself quite substantially is doing so deliberately aka trying to harm me. So if you had those blades in your pocket without telling the officer that should count as a booby trap/assault on the officer.

Even beyond that, the “complex” language they claim is confusing is the whole point of Wikipedia. Neutral, precise language that describes matters accurately for laymen. There are links to every unusual or complex related subject and even individual words in all the articles.
I find it disturbing that a major share of the userbase is supposedly unable to process the information provided in this format, and needs it dumbed down even further. Wikipedia is already the summarized and simplified version of many topics.

- Comment on What would it take to make Gemini suitable to be president of the world? 2 months ago:
- The singularity happening
- it (the machine consciousness) by some twist of fate being belevolent towards us
- we, by another twist of fate, are unable or unwilling to destroy it out of ignorance
- the stars align and we allow it to become involved in governance and administration
And then it still needs to be able to dismantle capitalism to allocate resources efficiently and where needed and not hoarded to increase the power of a select few.
