- Comment on Why do they turn Federation into a dystopia? 9 hours ago:
Perhaps you should start watching trek instead of commenting on it from a distance, you know, so you know what you are taking about.
The federation (in the TNG era which i would count as the most beloved and accepted by fans) is a post scarcity society, the populations indeed do have full and free access to replication technology, which also solves the waste problem you suggest since replicated goods can also be reclaimed by the devices. Make whatever you need, use it, vanish the leftovers when youre done.
So indeed people are beyond our concepts of material need and property. Individuals may also indulge in commerce if they are of the mercantile inclination, nobody cares, but any citizen can acquire any material resource required or desired in their lives regardless, and for free.

Make > use > reuse > remake > recycle
I read this as:
- Create commodity
- Consume/use commodity until obsolete
- Use leftover commodity for possible secondary function (old clothes can be fixed up or used in making different clothing)
- Repurpose leftover commodity (old clothes could also be used as rags)
- recycle (dispose in a way that allow some or all of the resources to be reclaimed)
Though i agree that the wording is weird and required my deliberately positive interpretation.
- Comment on How does capitalism differ from crony capitalism? 1 week ago:
Personally i hate that narrative because the ONLY people who would listen to such advice are the very people you need more of, not less. Educated, morally steadfast in the best sense and willing to make a sacrifice on behalf of everyone.
The people voting against their own interests, perpetuating ignorance and hate, love having kids.

- Comment on China calls for Maduro’s immediate release, accuses US of breaching international law 4 weeks ago:
While i would agree that at the immediate present the u.s appear to be the more belligerent and unpredictable actor i believe that there is not a lot of room for nuance in terms of aggression towards other sovereign countries. They are all unacceptable to me. The US should stay the hell out of Venezuela, Russia out of Ukraine and China out of Taiwan, to use the most current examples.
- Comment on China calls for Maduro’s immediate release, accuses US of breaching international law 5 weeks ago:
Because they have already been ratioed and corrected in their perspective by other commenters.
I do of course entirely agree with you that the united states under current leadership are wildly untrustworthy and a potential danger to anyone who has something Trump wants. Scared for Denmark.
- Comment on China calls for Maduro’s immediate release, accuses US of breaching international law 5 weeks ago:
You see, it is possible to resent both countries’ ambitions on other nations and global hegemony. You dont have to whatabout when someone points out that China is no saint either.
What are you even hoping to achieve here? Make the reader say “oh well, guess what China does is okay then”?

Okay im trying not to be rude here but before you accuse me of not knowing what i am taking about, perhaps read what i write at all. I know the impulse to be snarky is strong on the internet but still, at least put the minimum effort in.
I did not at any point refer to historical origins of any food. I stated where these kinds of food are being eaten these days; according to my experience. Strudel is a commonplace dessert around the holidays even here in Niedersachsen. Germknödel i specifically mentioned as a typical, southern regional food since it is a lot less common (although not entirely unknown) up here.
- Comment on My culture also loves music, dancing and telling stories 1 month ago:
Apfelstrudel is definitely not just a southern treat. Germknödel / Hefedampfnudeln are a regional (and delicious) food. Other typical south german foods would probably be schweinshaxe and several types of sausages specific to that region. Also all the austrian versions of foods such as palatschinken
- Comment on THIS is an inventive idea 1 month ago:
Actually here in germany it has been a thing forever to get a tree with roots and all. You water it a little while it is with you and then plant it again in the ground.
Obviously this doesnt work for really large trees, but still.

500TB is still surprisingly reasonable for what is essentially a library of human (surface level) knowledge.
It would be interesting to know how large the file would be including all Text Form references (i’d imagine anything else such as videos would completely blow the proportions)

How is this considered streaming material? If this were the usual setup involving a rich old guy we would rightfully think it disgusting.

Does a minister have executive powers? Thought thats the chancellor / president / whoever has the final say if anything is actually to be actually done.
- Comment on Albania what are you doing? I thought you just made peace with Aberbaijan??? 3 months ago:
Oh… I somehow assumed the ai minister of a country would be a minister for ai instead of a llm with legislative powers 🫠 fuck this reality
At least it makes the ai children comment less weird i guess
- Comment on Albania what are you doing? I thought you just made peace with Aberbaijan??? 3 months ago:
My Interpretation is that they made ai assistants for each government official and then somehow got the weird idea to announce it like the woman who is the ai minister is giving birth to her ai children.

Could it be that the key here is media competence and not a doctors degree?

Brother, do you think any country is afforded that level of differentiation by the common people? People probably know that not literally every single american supports Trump, but they will still consider any american to be “from that place” first and foremost until proven otherwise.
I am german myself and most certainly not aligned with our current government, but you bet i have to justify myself to others anyway.

Oh i’m sorry, I forgot to specify that I’m not talking as an absolute, and that I am refererring to the western/capitalist cultural hemisphere and not uncontacted tribes or Islamic societies. Didn’t think of the average lemmy nitpicker deliberately interpreting any possible uncertainties in communication in the worst possible way.
- Comment on Help. 5 months ago:
We have engaged in gender centric tribalism for the last decades. Feminism, counter-movements, topped with a bunch of social media induced dissociation and social isolation.
Now women are scared of men, men are scared of women, and everyone is lonely and miserable.
- Comment on Lemmy be like 5 months ago:
I don’t hate the concept as is, I hate how it is being marketed and shoved everywhere and into everything by sheer hype and the need for returns on the absurd amounts of money that were thrown at it.
Companies use it to justify layoffs, create cheap vibed up products, delegate responsibilities to am absolutely not computer program. Not even mentioning the colossal amount of natural and financial resources being thrown down this drain.
I read a great summary yesterday somewhere on here that essentially said “they took a type of computer model made to give answers to very specific questions it has been trained on, and then trained it on everything to make a generalist”. Except that doesn’t work, the broader the spectrum the model is covering the less accurate it will be.
Identifying skin cancer? Perfect tool for the job.
Giving drones the go ahead on an ambiguous target? Providing psychological care to people in distress? FUCK NO.
