If it isn’t that one, the same thing happened to that one. Sad times.
- Comment on Bad UX is keeping the majority of people away from Lemmy 3 weeks ago:
One central server is created. Users finally have an easy time joining lemmy and most are content with staying right where they are. A large amount of content is now centralized to one place. Suddenly, financial interests take notice of a large amount of untapped potential. Caving in to the opportunity to live an easier life under the warm blanket of money, the central server owner sells the server to the highest bidder.
The new central server owner defederates from smaller instances, eventually cutting themselves off from all other lemmy servers. Enshittification begins.
I’m sure there’s reasons this couldn’t happen but I think the biggest strength of lemmy is having users just randomly pick and then figure later. I started out on .world but didn’t like their moderation and deceleration practices, so I moved.

The amount of people I know that said they were voting Trump for “economic reasons” is far too high.
I know they make less money than I do, so they’re definitely not the ones benefitting from Trumps economic plans. The absolute buffoons.

Loved me some bland rolls with unsalted watered down mashed potato and chicken nugget day! Hell yeah!
The only way to survive those meals was some ketchup and mixing literally all of into a mush lol

At its core, conservatism is about “conserving the way things are”, or, in another way, being “against change”. Anti ai people are against the changes they’re seeing. I don’t know how else to describe this.
Art is art, if someone has a fun idea and uses ai as the tool to express their idea, then it’s art. It may require less effort at the time of creation than other art forms, but this was at the expense of many people spending many hours developing the tools to make that happen.
Just like every era of change, there are people out there pissed off because it’s different. People were upset that the printing press was created, because they felt it cheapened knowledge.

The anti ai conservatives are a strange group. Go be mad about something that matters.

Butchering that goose is the common tactic of satisfying shareholders temporarily.
Fortunately, their shareholders are still private and they don’t have to go to that level (yet)

Genuinely curious what parts of the UI have gotten worse. Open video, video plays, move on.
It’s obvious that Google would rather try to make money than bleed it into one of the most expensive websites out there, so the ads are a moot point. Pay or become the product.

It does make sense from a payment processing standpoint. It doesn’t make sense to spend more money on creating the transaction than is actually being sent.

I’m with you on embracing the privacy nightmare to kill off cheaters in games. Tie an account to a real identity and that problem will quickly reduce.

I think there’s a happy middle ground where deletion just disassociates the comment with you. It will show (deleted) or something but the original text remains.
Maybe there should be exclusions for personal or identifying information in such a system.

Just because you did it doesn’t mean it should be done. You, having experienced sleep deprivation to the point of shaky eyes, should know that the system shouldn’t be designed to expect anyone to go that far.

You just end up paying a premium for your mobile plan at that point. There are much cheaper plans than the ATT one, and for some, you’ll end up paying way less if they buy the phone outright and subscribing to those.
