- Comment on Streaming is cable now | Seventeen years after Netflix and Hulu kicked off a streaming revolution, it’s looking more like cable than ever. 1 week ago:
The biggest change to me is how much the streaming services are pushing commercials now. Paying to watch commercials really completes the transition back to cable.

Striker never bent my Wookie, and for that I am grateful.
- Comment on Microsoft Closes Redfall Developer Arkane Austin, Hi-Fi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks, and More in Devastating Cuts at Bethesda 1 week ago:
Absolutely agree, just recently instead of buying Manor Lords I just found a good deal on a month of Game Pass. I played it as much as I wanted (for now) for less than $10.
- Comment on Microsoft Closes Redfall Developer Arkane Austin, Hi-Fi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks, and More in Devastating Cuts at Bethesda 1 week ago:
Just the fact that they played some minimum amount should tell them the game contributed to the subscriber’s enjoyment of Game Pass. Otherwise if they are both selling a game and giving it to Game Pass subscribers for free I’m not sure what they are expecting. Can’t have your cake and eat it too, but I’m sure they would like that.
Maybe they are hoping that Game Pass is like extended demos and will lead to more game sales. But there are too many new games all the time for most to hold my interest.

Yeah did someone just run or interpret reports incorrectly? If a person subscribes to Game Pass and plays Hi Fi Rush for X months, I’d consider that a sale.
- Comment on Helldivers 2 Players Express Frustration On Steam As It Will Soon Require A PSN Account 1 week ago:
They might verify the email. But if you’re that worried about Sony having your email you can just make a unique one for them. You don’t have to give them your primary email.
- Comment on Humans share the web equally with bots, report warns amid fears of ‘dead internet’ 2 weeks ago:
A bot browsing or posting is not equivalent to a human doing so.
- Comment on Google is (still) losing the spam wars to zombie news-brands 2 weeks ago:
They won’t pay for that, they would probably rather spend money on developing AI curation.
- Comment on Helldivers 2 Players Express Frustration On Steam As It Will Soon Require A PSN Account 2 weeks ago:
I would definitely be annoyed but have had to create an account for other games too. Give them an email that isn’t your primary email and a unique password, I don’t see where there is any risk after that.
- Comment on Helldivers 2 Players Express Frustration On Steam As It Will Soon Require A PSN Account 2 weeks ago:
If all that is required is an email address and password I could live with giving Sony a fake name and unique password, I don’t see where I have a privacy or security risk there. Annoying, but it’s a lot better than another launcher or something.
- Comment on Helldivers 2 Players Express Frustration On Steam As It Will Soon Require A PSN Account 2 weeks ago:
What does a PSN account involve? Just an email and password, maybe a handle/nickname?
I assume it needs no credit card or payment.
If all that is true a PSN account is annoying but doesn’t seem so bad.
- Comment on A Lawsuit Argues Meta Is Required by Law to Let You Control Your Own Feed 2 weeks ago:
I hate Facebook but it doesn’t sound right to legally force a service to act how you want. Facebook is not a public resource.
- Comment on Congress lets broadband funding run out, ending $30 low-income discounts 2 weeks ago:
This one covered households making 2x the poverty level. I bet a lot of people qualified that didn’t realize it, including myself.
- Comment on Windows 11 just isn't enticing Windows 10 users to upgrade, and its market share is actually falling 2 weeks ago:
No it needs more AI. Maybe AI-generated ads. The killer tech of 2024. The shareholders will be so pleased.

My walls look worse than that in spots. You did good.

They can at least be disabled but it’s always something with MS these days.

I’ve learned that many women are very into shoes and notice what shoes everyone is wearing.

There wouldn’t be so much news if people would quit doing stuff.

Italian restaurant I bet. They often seem to have weird bathroom arrangements. One here has two toilets side by side with no partitions in between.
- Comment on Centipede: Recharged for the Atari VCS 5 weeks ago:
I haven’t played the new one but the graphics are a huge upgrade. The player shooter thing in the original 2600 version is a plain rectangle.

Also there may be very good coworkers or very bad coworkers, you’ll probably work closely with either.
And things will probably be a lot more informal.
- Comment on A German state is ditching Windows and Microsoft Office for Linux and LibreOffice on the 30,000 PCs it uses for local government functions 5 weeks ago:
Yeah LibreOffice will do things like mail merges, but I mean it will probably require relearning the process. It will be different than the process they used with MS Office.
If you just porting over simple things like letters and simple documents you should be able to move back and forth between MS Office and LibreOffice with few changes.

- Comment on How do I stop wanting to be on a relationship? 1 month ago:
You need someone who is low maintenance like yourself. Someone who doesn’t need constant validation from you to feel complete. Or a friend with benefits. Both exist but can be tricky to find.
