- Comment on How is my bedroom being heated? 20 hours ago:
It can be heat from surrounding units, especially those below you. Heat rises. There is a 15 degree difference between my upstairs and downstairs sometimes.
- Comment on How does this pic show that Elon Musk doesnt know SQL? 5 days ago:
The ignorance of Elon is truly concerning, but somehow the worst part to me is Elon calling someone a retard for pointing that out.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 week ago:
I think it’s safer to just send them a simple email saying you traded that car into a dealership (on whatever date if you have that) and also that was never your license plate number. That should be enough for any reasonable person to fix it. If you ignore it they might start adding charges on and it will get worse.
- Comment on Valve ban advertising-based business models on Steam, no forced adverts like in mobile games 1 week ago:
I read that games with ads were already banned from Steam a long time ago. That explains why we don’t have more junk in the Steam store. Judging by how many never completed early access asset flip games there are, it would be a complete cesspool with ad-supported games. Good decision by Valve.
- Comment on Freed At Last From Patents, Does Anyone Still Care About MP3? 1 week ago:
And Mazda 3. The platforms are the same but engines and interiors a lot different between the Fords and the Mazdas at least.
- Comment on Freed At Last From Patents, Does Anyone Still Care About MP3? 1 week ago:
The randomizing n my Focus ST is good, but when I tell it to shuffle play it always starts with 1 of 2 different songs, every time.

2013 Ford, but I know they shared some technology for a while.

Yeah my car plays the 11,000 MP3s from a SDcard inside the armrest compartment.
- Comment on Those YouTube ads everyone hates made $10.4 billion in just three months 1 week ago:
When I watch YouTube on the Roku in my bedroom I see ads and it’s terrible. If I see a 30 second ad I go back and hit play again, usually I have to do that two or three times and then I get a 5-second skippable ad. Even then I’m often only two or three minutes into the video before it plays another ad.
- Comment on Is Civilization 7 not fun? 1 week ago:
As others have said, play Civ 5. Better game with all the bugs worked out, and cheaper.
- Comment on Looking for a free speech Lemmy instance 1 week ago:
Freedom of speech means you can say what you want (within reason) and the government can’t stop you. It doesn’t mean that anyone has to listen.
If you want to engage in what is largely regarded as hate speech, see where trump and musk post, they’re pretty good at hating.

- Comment on Why I am not impressed by A.I. 2 weeks ago:
It’s like someone who has no formal education but has a high level of confidence and eavesdrops on a lot of random conversations.
- Comment on Are mods usually confusing as hell or am I just an idiot? 2 weeks ago:
YMMV but as a long time mod installer I find the UI of Vortex more confusing than manually modding most games. But if the UI clicks with you then yeah it would be a lot easier than manual.
- Comment on Meta’s AI Profiles Are Already Polluting Instagram and Facebook With Slop 1 month ago:
People don’t seem to realize that powerful people are all the same as us; they eat, they poop, they get dressed, they sleep.
What they have is widespread recognition and resources, and enough people that listen to them and care about what they do.
Zuckerburg or Putin or Trump or anyone else in power cannot physically implement everything they want done. It takes lackeys and yes men to carry out their wishes. Sure would be nice if everyone would just be decent and quit listening to them.

And be very expensive for the customer at the same time. Food is expensive enough already without adding more fees and overhead.

- Comment on People born after 2000 have never seen the cosmic microwave background on their TV set. 3 months ago:
Well to be fair at some point most/all CRTs showed a blue screen instead of static. So it’s possible someone born in 2000 never saw the snowy display.

What are you taking about? Dems would file lawsuits and use legal means to contest anything they think was illegal.
- Comment on Whenever I see someone walking around in clothes with big, visible branding, I can’t help but think they paid a fortune to wear an advertisement. 3 months ago:
Yeah I think if you’re going to be advertising their brand the product should be free or they should even be paying you to wear it out in public.
