- Comment on Spotify fans threaten to return to piracy as music streamer introduces new face-scanning age checks in the UK 4 days ago:
The invasiveness is the point. Age gating explicit content is just the excuse.

The US’s obesity problem is more complicated than that. It’s not just that our portions are big. Americans have to work pretty long hours too. That means much of our lives we probably aren’t getting much exercise, and when we get home a lot of us don’t have a lot of energy to cook so we probably eat a lot more pre-packaged food. Stress also contributes a lot to weight gain.
And once you have gained a lot of weight, all of those problems, plus the fact that healthcare is so expensive, make it even more difficult to lose.

You should see some of the “American food” they sell in some parts of Europe and Asia. I feel like it’s pretty typical everywhere to misunderstand and exoticize other cultures.

Ok, but that’s a pretty unusual art style for an anime.
- Comment on salty child 2 weeks ago:
Actually, that’s apocryphal. It isn’t the salt water that kills you, it’s actually Posiden.

Thoughts can be words.

I don’t really have an inner monologue unless I very intentionally think in words. Otherwise I just think in thoughts. 🤷♀️

If it takes off it might still make it harder to find a decent dairy alternative for people with this kind of allergy.

Well, enough insects out there are venomous/poisonous so you probably wouldn’t survive long anyway.

Hey, Nestle may have murdered a bunch of infants in Africa in the name of profits, but that’s nothing compared to charging $80s for Switch 2 games /s

Good point. OP should just press the easy to access, and definitely affordable for everyone, therapy-button. /S

For real. What will a Switch 2 do that a Steam deck (or one of its several competitors) won’t? There are still switch emulators, and there will be switch 2 emulators.

Give it some time, we will.

Wages have stayed stagnant during that time, so it might not have gotten much more expensive in comparison to other stuff, it has gotten more expensive compared to what we have left over after paying for necessities.

Don’t worry, they’ll spare atleast 15 minutes to show off Skyrim on the Switch 2.

- Comment on Disposable vapes to be banned in England and Wales from June 9 months ago:
But where are they going to have access to their vape that they don’t have access to their phone? Do most 15 yr olds have the disposable income to spend (probably) twice as much for something disposable anyway?
- Comment on Disposable vapes to be banned in England and Wales from June 9 months ago:
In my experience most of the non-disposable options are either super bulky or just shitty build quality. Pods that leak, or burn out super quickly. Vapes that just stop working or break super quickly. Incredible inconsistency in where/what pods are available.
None of these are insurmountable problems, but as of right now most companies seem uninterested in making a better product.
- Comment on Disposable vapes to be banned in England and Wales from June 9 months ago:
It’s still plenty wasteful, but the most environmentally impactful part is throwing away the battery. If the battery isn’t disposable you’ve gotten rid of a large chunk of the problem.
- Comment on Disposable vapes to be banned in England and Wales from June 9 months ago:
I’d consider this a plus. They’re not going to keep manufacturing these just so teenagers can buy them on a grey/black market. Teenagers will still be able to get their hands on vapes, but less consistently.

It’s time to bring back tobacco pipes.
