I actually bought DS3 twice, For the PS4 the first time, and couldn’t do anything. I’m not a console person by nature. Then I found out it was on PC, my jam, got it and OMG is that port shitty

Almost all, would be more accurate. And some even unintentional, we tend to unconsciously modify our memory to make ourselves look better

Although times are changing, this wasn’t just a him thing. This was strongly enforced by mothers and girlfriends, etc. also.
I was talking to a friend about it. It was so bad in college in the eighties, her dorm had a communal bathroom for the floor. Girls wouldn’t poop if another girl was in there. They’d come back in the middle of the night

I absolutely love when people troll (internationally or not) by mentioning Uhura/Kirk as TV’s first interracial kiss. It makes me giggle to see these extremely “well actually” pedantic responses. Yours is great! Do you have that saved as a copy paste?
Do you have one for Rosa Parks? You might be surprised to learn she wasn’t the first. She was “chosen” as flag bearer for the fight because she had a cleaner image.

Tell me you know nothing about Star Trek without telling me.
ST broke so many cultural barriers, nothing else in its time period even comes close. Other than that they wore uniforms almost nothing is militaristic. It was a science vessel not a warship. Money and capitalism were virtually non-existent and when they did show up, they were ridiculed. I could go on, but you should learn for yourself.
- Comment on Did it really used to be common for guys to go to a bar every night like in Cheers or The Simpsons? 2 weeks ago:
Holy fuck! Even today you can get a 30 pack of average beer like bud Budweiser for 25 ish.
Back in the day I paid 3 a point for some cheap ass.

A lot of blue collar workers went straight to the bar after work 3-4 days a week.
I did sheet metal back in the 90’s for a year. Typical day… start at 6, off at 2:30, bar from 3-5. Pretty much everyday.
- Comment on Banana 2 weeks ago:
They’ll be gone in 10-15 years? The current popular version anyway. A fungi is destroying them.
It happened before back in the fifties with the last version. Except there’s nothing really close this time. The other types of bananas aren’t close at all

“Then I stepped back and gave them space to set [Suleman] up, because he really wanted to go,” she said."
This is from the mom in a BBC article. And he was 19 not a kid.

Yes and they use SINS, now this probably didn’t have an expensive SINS setup but they did have communication with the surface that was tracking them on sonar. They did have location data.

I meant actual BBS, in the mid eighties. You would dial into on a phone line using your 300 buad modem. Lol
The “game” was text based and hosted on the BBS server.

Anyone remember the BBS “turn based” games?
I don’t even remember the names, but you would login every day to play your turn. Resource allocation based.
There was a drag car racing one and a space one that I remember.

I’ve been using Windows since 3.0
Windows has a bunch of privacy and evil empire issues. But as far as just using it? It’s been pretty fucking stable since XP days compared to any other OS out there. MAC technically is more stable but only because they tightly control the hardware. You can install Windows on an insane variety of hardware.
Linux? First, please link me to the “Linux OS” oh right you can’t. Linux is a collection of 50+ (more?) OSs with wildly different UIs, functionality, and issues. Don’t get me started on installing software. Each has its repo or multiples or flatpaks or whatever the hell Ubuntu uses.
Hell only a few distributions even support (and not well) the most popular GPU maker on the market for the last 30 years. You know graphics are kinda important? Now that’s what I consider a massive issue to throw at users. And no the end user doesn’t care if that’s Nvidia’s fault or not.
I just installed Linux on a older MSI couple months ago. I spent like 3 hours reading online and trying 4 different distos before I got one that worked. Then oops keyboard lights are sol… Install a game, oops again the default install directory doesn’t work with add-ons because the distro. was immutable. So back to researching. And I’m fairly tech savvy.
So even in 2025 “Linux” isn’t ready for the desktop for your average user. Now that is a silly claim.
