- Comment on Thousands of Asus routers are being hit with stealthy, persistent backdoors 6 days ago:
Yes, except if they alter the factory image. In this case a new factory image has to be flashed before factory reset.
I haven’t tried on my ASUS router, yet. But there might be a serial port in one of the RJ45 sockets, as on my old netgear. Plug in your PC there and run the manufacturer’s flash utility.
This trick worked for me when a normal factory reset didn’t help getting back acces to the WebUI.

Afaik it’s a fork / copy of the actual Discord source code. With all its bugs
- Comment on 3D printers leave hidden ‘fingerprints’ that reveal part origins 1 week ago:
On my printers, each print looks differently. The prints sometimes also fail for various reasons. Add a constant process of modifications and I doubt someone can find enough unique features on the prints, to recognise the correct printer.
- Comment on Autonomes Fahren: Lidar kann Smartphone-Kameras schwer beschädigen 1 week ago:
Exactly. That’s what I mean by their wording being off a little.
- Comment on Autonomes Fahren: Lidar kann Smartphone-Kameras schwer beschädigen 1 week ago:
Betroffen war nur das Teleobjektiv, da das Bild nach dem Herauszoomen auf ein anderes Objektiv wieder normal angezeigt wurde.
The switching is noted in the text. However, the wording is a little off since they refer to the lenses and not the camera sensors behind.

My granpa once assigned a master electrician to make an extension cord after he accidently cut the cable of his hedge trimmer. The electrician built him a male2male cord with the female part on the machine. My granpa almost got electrocuted. 🤦♂️
- Comment on Trump says a 25% tariff "must be paid by Apple" on iPhones not made in the US, says he told Tim Cook long ago that iPhones sold in the US must be made in the US 1 week ago:
That’s all true. But how do you feel for buying an already overpriced product, made by a greedy company which acts against software developers (by prohibidding selling their software on other market places and dictating prices), the environment, and the customer (repairability, compatibility and more restrictions) and the state (tax evasion)? I think Apple should get what they deserve.
- Comment on Trump says a 25% tariff "must be paid by Apple" on iPhones not made in the US, says he told Tim Cook long ago that iPhones sold in the US must be made in the US 1 week ago:
And so Apple’s breakdown begins. Trump smashing their overrated market position in the US. It’s the first time I would support his BS decisions.
- Comment on New Cars Don't All Come With Dipsticks Anymore, Here's Why 1 week ago:
This sounds like an old Mercedes problem: Why even having a dipstick when there isn’t any drain bolt? The Mechanic sucks all the oil from the top using a vacuum. Grime buildup down in the oil pan? Ain’t care! The car will break anyway, once it’s out of warranty.

Heat it up and take it apart while the PLA is soft. Then have fun cleaning. You may have to use a knife.

CalyxOS on Fairphone is your friend, my friend. 😎 It’s degoogled and it values your privacy. If you really need an app from Google Play, there is the Aurora store in between. For everything else thete is F-droid and the calyx and guardian repo.

I’m happy not to buy an iPhone and instead resort to European (Fairphone) and South Korean brands which actually fit my needs.

The best game based on a movie is Alien 3 for MegaDrive.
- Comment on [deleted] 6 months ago:
Probably. But maybe it is my habit of unshitifying every OS I install. I always decline telemetry, ads and suspecious features since Win10 rolled out. Same on my android phones. Use adblock since I cannot stand seeing ad banners without freaking out.
My point is: Microsoft and Google always offer opting-out. Users are responsible for accepting or declining services like telemetry. If you still cry about this crap: FIX YOUR CONFIG.
- Comment on [deleted] 6 months ago:
I cannot relate to most of your points. I’ve never seen the ads you describe. UI made a huge leap forward after they neglected it for decades, so it almost caught up to the usual Linux DEs (as they were some years ago). System performance is not worse than on my several Linux systems.
I just don’t see the point in switching to Linux now, if you haven’t already done years ago.

Yes, but users with basic knowledge don’t even get the difference between a web browser and a search engine. Shutting down Google looks like a perfect “simple” explanation for a general digital lockdown.
