Yeah that’s a good point. Win a bet, and do what you love.

He must be getting something amazing from winning the bet to keep at it like this!

My desktop (that runs guix) is from 2009. At the time I built it for gaming. I upgraded it to 16 gig ram and replaced the graphics card (old one died), no other mods made. Now I use it for much more mundane stuff and it’s still completely usable.

Yeah the elitism thing is detrimental because it drives newcomers away. The more people who get interested in linux and start using it the better.

I actually prefer putting the stuff on the bun under the hotdog.

Oh I’m stoopit. I just looked up the documentation for keepassxc and it supports it too:
keepassxc.org/docs/KeePassXC_UserGuide#_passkeys
So I guess the next time I create an account that supports it I’ll try it and see how it goes.
- Comment on Passkeys Explained: The End of Passwords 5 weeks ago:
The eco-system lock-in makes this a non-starter for me. If I could store the private keys in something like a keepass vault (or that) and do the authentication magic from that I would consider it.

Yeah I think these luddite people would be better served if they took a more free/libre (gnu, fsf) approach to computing vs rejecting technology wholesale.

- Comment on Why Signal’s post-quantum makeover is an amazing engineering achievement 1 month ago:
It took me years of begging and pleading with my wife to start using signal, the setup for which is way easier than matrix. I don’t think I’d be able to get my wife to use matrix due to the increased complexity.
I have secure comms with my wife (albeit centralized) and that’s what’s important to me.

I once took an overnight flight from the west coast to the east coast. The flight wasn’t very crowded and I intentionally picked a seat away from other ocupied seats.
I get on the plane, as I’m warking back to my seat I notice there’s entire rows that are empty. So instead of picking a seat in an open row, and this. fucking. guy. picked the window seat closest to my aisle seat, and he talked for most of the flight. In hindsight I should have just sat somewhere else when I first noticed him.
