If you max out Cloud there’s not a chance in hell Link could beat him. He can summon gods and kills planet-defending monsters.
Can Cloud Strife (FF7) beat Link (Zelda)?

What is another dungeon boss to the boy of legend?
finkrat@lemmy.world 8 months ago
Only way that is happening is with Link fully armed and Cloud with no materia. Cloud is superhuman at his base self, his Lvl. 3 and 4 limit breaks are brutal, and he just gets worse with Haste, Reflect, etc., never mind offensive spells like Ultima, Comet, summons…
Link is resourceful, he may outwit Cloud, but he will absolutely not beat him in a straight fight.

What if Cloud kissed Link’s leg?

Now this is a question I can really sink my teeth into

What if Cloud’s hair went flat
RightHandOfIkaros@lemmy.world 8 months ago
Maybe? Its highly dependant on a lot of factors. If Cloud can use healing items and magic, then does that mean Link can use fairies? If thats the case, then Link would technically be immortal.
aniki@lemm.ee 8 months ago
Can Link summon fairies endlessly? Theoretically, Cloud could max out final attack and phoenix summons and then as long as he has MP he can respawn when killed and also max out items that restore MP. Link would essentially need to have limitless fairies.

Final attack + phoenix, mp absorb + master summon. KotR + MP Turbo Don’t need MP items anymore since any summon gives all your MP back, including the phoenix final attack that rezzes you.
Cloud wins under normal circunstances against any Link except maybe one wearing the Fierce Deity mask from MM and even then its close.

Link can freeze time and cook/eat though
RightHandOfIkaros@lemmy.world 8 months ago
Not in the regular Zelda games.
Also isnt FF7 turn based? Going by those rules Cloud can also freeze time.
RealM@kbin.social 8 months ago
Which version of FF7 are you referring to? And also which version of Link?
Either way, probably depends on who the writers want to win lol.
VanHalbgott@lemmus.org 8 months ago
Yeah, true. Any of them will do.

Just to be difficult, I’ll say Squall.

Whatever

I think that’s how most people feel about FFVIII…

Settle it in smash?

Death Battle did two episodes on the matchup, with each of them winning once. Link won when he had all his items and Cloud could use materia but couldn’t use summons (they were considered outside help which was against the rules in DB at the time). They said Link’s massively varied arsenal more than made up for Cloud’s pure strength advantage. Rematch, they added Link’s abilities from BotW and gave Cloud his summons back, and Cloud won, with the pure overwhelming power of the summons, of course.

What good is the triforce anyway?
Grass@sh.itjust.works 8 months ago
Oot link could probably win using a bottle and a stick or something. Or maybe play the bottle like an ocarina and pick up some grass while getting exploded and slide around and some other shit then warp straight to the credits.

I don’t see how Link could beat a super soldier even with all of his equipment. Could the master sword cut through the buster? That might do it.

My money is on the youthful, blonde, blue-eyed swordsman with the mysterious past who can use magic crystals to perform magic!
