Risky click of the day, but darn interesting!

Aren’t humans great sometimes? :)
FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Wait, there’s not just one kind?
indomara@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Indeed not! Australia has some interesting ones not yet classified, if you come across an occlupanid in your daily life that has not yet been classified and catalogued, you can contact HORG and send them in. :)

Ridiculous. I’m only 35 and I can tell that this is obviously a Starburst with a hole punched out.
r00ty@kbin.life 1 year ago
If you were over 40, you'd call them opal fruits!
Vinny_93@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Still widely used in the Netherlands so everyone here knows.
LodeMike@lemmy.today 1 year ago
They still use these???
ohlaph@lemmy.world 1 year ago
That’s what I was thinking. I lost one to my bagels last week.

I’m sorry.

Yeah that’s ammo (specifically 2 rounds) in the endless war to hit <insert family member> with a covert flick of the finger from across the room!

Do people under 40 just not buy bread in your world?

Have my updoot instead.
RisingSwell@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Still exists in cardboard form, not entirely sure why people wouldn’t know what this is at basically any age, unless they buy no bread products?
MacNCheezus@lemmy.today 1 year ago
All the cool kids are doing keto and eating gluten free now

Here in the UK, I don't think I've seen one of those in use for more than 20 years. Maybe it is still in use elsewhere?
Daeraxa@lemmy.ml 1 year ago
I don’t think i’ve seen one. Even loaves from bakers 20 years ago were sealed using that little machine with strips red sticky tape.
RedIce25@lemmy.world 1 year ago
At first I thought of course everybody knows, but the longer I was thinking: I haven’t seen one in a long time
Rincewindnz@lemmy.world 1 year ago
These are an essential piece of beach/holiday gear to fix your jandals(flipflops or thongs in Australia)with.
Halvdan@sopuli.xyz 1 year ago
Yes, but how many knows that you can break them in half so that the opening is split in two. Then sort of wedge it onto your finger and shoot them at unsuspecting siblings?

under 30 maybe
chocosoldier@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 year ago
TIL these aren’t used anymore some places. These are on every bag of buns at my local stores.
MacNCheezus@lemmy.today 1 year ago
These are on every bag of buns at all the stores near me.

Toes@ani.social 1 year ago
What is that?
bstix@feddit.dk 1 year ago
I know what it is, but I have no idea what it’s called. Like, if I had to order them from the factory, I’d probably get the wrong ones.
skullgiver@popplesburger.hilciferous.nl 1 year ago
I doubt you’d be able to order the wrong ones. There are basically two companies that produce almost every bread clip in the world (source), so there’s no way you’ll be able to mess up your order. These unlikely duopolies aren’t exactly known for their willingness to do custom runs, or wide product variety…

Do people under 40 not buying bread?
MacNCheezus@lemmy.today 1 year ago
They just download it from the cloud nowadays
Mr_Fish@lemmy.world 1 year ago
You wouldn’t download a loaf
alquicksilver@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Soggy bread sounds terrible. Do they at least keep it in a bread box in the cloud?
