Being able to follow a user or maybe create groups of users

This would be nice. I’ve always been on these sites for the users. Reddit was so weird with the absence of user-centered features, and super tiny usernames that weren’t front and center.
NightOwl@lemmy.one 1 year ago
I liked that it wasn’t front in center, since I was there for the user comments but without wanting to follow or remember any users. Liked how everything just blended into a bunch of anons without the attempt to get noticed and get followers that other social media strongly emphasizes. Was one of the reasons I hated the move to new.reddit and stuck with old.reddit.

I would like downvoted comments and posts that are below a certain threshold to be collapsed.

Hopefully not

Discovery/random button. The search function isn’t great, though I admit I’m still not used to the instances thing.

latest beta of sync (re-)added random community ( and random nsfw ).
also, now you can browse the homepage of another instance without the need to be logged in.

Better discovery.
Better way to federate images.
Link similar groups together.
More elegant cross posting.
Ability to filter by human comments rather than by posts or comments from robots.
Better onboarding, support OAuth, Fido 2, authenticating with a third party service such as Google Microsoft Facebook GitHub etc

More on the app side but opening youtube links in a way that doesn’t put it in my history would be nice

Build in scanning of urls for malicious content. Scanning of images for inappropriate content.

When I block someone, I am unable to see all comments in threads they are parent to.
So if I decide to block someone, and someone else responds to me, I get a notification with that posts contents, but I cannot follow a link to that post unless I unblock the parent poster/OP.

Better moderation tools and better ways to fend off bot attacks.
That stuff should be at the top of the feature development lists. We need to focus on the stuff that prioritizes stability and helps admins federate.

I’d just like to see a couple of subreddits that I used to use a lot, get Lemmy equivalents.
The only advantage Reddit still has is the large enough userbase for niche communities to exist.
notExactlyI20@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Definetly some sort of all-in-one place client centralization feed (like cats/dogs/cute animal pics in one place, all my linux and general tech in another, etc). Like a mini reddit, but client side, so it doesn’t interfere with the decentralization stuff going on.

If there could be a filter option to block all the anime/fury porn that’d be super swell.

I really really miss “mark all posts above this one as read.”
I see the same posts in my feed 3 times a day and waste a lot of time scrolling to find the point where I haven’t seen yet.
sonovebitch@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Correlation of duplicated posts/automatic crossposting. I’m tired if seeing 3 times the exact same posts from 3 different communities.
qooqie@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Yeah I kinda wish communities were federated instead of being tied to an instance (it would reduce spam too). This way if an admin went stupid you wouldn’t just lose all the content from the community.
