- Comment on With a Switch 2 looming, Nintendo is sending out the original with a bang 1 year ago:
This is Nintendo… They’ll make you rebuy everything if you want to play it on the new console.
- Comment on Handyman is asking $500 to sand and fill the rot with putty, caulk and paint the door. Is that a fair ask? (NC) (album with multiple photos) 1 year ago:
I bought a “cheap” prehung exterior door recently it was like $300 I think. There’s absolutely no way it would be cheaper to just replace the whole door. Especially if you want a decent looking door.
- Comment on Handyman is asking $500 to sand and fill the rot with putty, caulk and paint the door. Is that a fair ask? (NC) (album with multiple photos) 1 year ago:
It’s going to take most of a day to do that “right” because they will need to remove a huge chunk and replaced all the material. Don’t believe these people saying a new door will be the same… A decent exterior door costs $500 alone and install will cost at least that again.
That being said, I’d just replace the door. I recently replaced my front and garage doors myself. It’s not as hard as you’d think. I spent like 4-6 hours on each. I did run into some leveling compound (cement type stuff) that leaked in from my flooring that I had to chip out on the front door.
- Comment on Europe is looking to fight the flood of Chinese electric vehicles. But Europeans love them 1 year ago:
The solid state batteries that seem to be clearly on the verge of mass production within the next few years are going to make everything they’re making now horribly obsolete. I’ve been considering a EV for my next vehicle and will definitely be waiting now.
- Comment on October 13 - 15, 2023 - Weekend Box Office (Estimates) 1 year ago:
I look at it kind of like all the people screaming to vote for Hilary/Biden at real left wingers. It’s the best we’ve got so try and support it if you can. I’m sick of all the shit tier superhero movies topping the box office…
- Comment on October 13 - 15, 2023 - Weekend Box Office (Estimates) 1 year ago:
I watch a decent amount of football (only ads I ever see) and I’ve seen multiple ads for it. Maybe their marketing budget was allocated poorly. I think “scifi nerds” are hard to market to because we use adblockers.
- Comment on October 13 - 15, 2023 - Weekend Box Office (Estimates) 1 year ago:
Sad to see the creator doing poorly since it’s actually an original film. Wish people were more interested in new IP. I guess I can’t gripe too much since I can’t even remember the last time I went to see a movie in theatre…
- Comment on CEO Bobby Kotick will leave Activision Blizzard on January 1, 2024 | Schreier: Kotick will depart after 33 years, employees are "very excited." 1 year ago:
They drag the corpses of their games along for money real good. Sometimes I think about the amount of people still paying a wow subscription and just sigh.
- Comment on Microsoft completes $69bn takeover of Call of Duty-maker Activision Blizzard 1 year ago:
People still playing their games are mad I called them suckers probably.
- Comment on Thinking of visiting a pawn shop. What should I know? 1 year ago:
Nah man, businesses tell their customers to get the fuck out all the time.
- Comment on Microsoft completes $69bn takeover of Call of Duty-maker Activision Blizzard 1 year ago:
Activision already ruined blizzard and is/was a shit company. Anyone buying their games still is a sucker who loves being ripped off. Nothing of value was lost here.
- Comment on Well, it was nice while it lasted? 1 year ago:
Apple doesn’t need to turn a profit and can burn money on high quality projects and keep renewing new seasons without caring about viewership. As much as I normally hate mega corps, this is a space where they’re using the fact that they’re too big to fail for a positive…
- Comment on Well, it was nice while it lasted? 1 year ago:
I really didn’t get the hype for that film personally and am not surprised it didn’t find a wide audience. Same with most of their films. I enjoyed a ton of them, but they aren’t suited to the mass appeal box office draws for monetization.
- Comment on Microsoft put their tax-evasion in writing and now they owe $29 billion. 1 year ago:
Don’t forget to read down to the part where they are planning to continually tie this up on court until a Republican lets them off. Same thing they did with the anti-trust lawsuit. Same shit different day until something changes. I’ll believe they pay this when I see it happen.
- Comment on Some Walmart employees say customers are getting hostile at self-checkout — and they blame anti-theft tech 1 year ago:
I think a lot of it has to do with that last part of your comment. The amount of times I’ve gone to the grocery store to find there’s no register open other than the self checks or that there’s 1-2 open at a huge grocery store with a 6-8 people in line for them and no self check line… People are being forced into self checking when they don’t want to. These people are obviously going to be more easily upset by issues with the self check machines. Walmart in my limited experience (try to never buy anything there if I can avoid it) is the worst offender I’ve seen.
- Comment on What kind of upbringing makes an incel? 1 year ago:
Toxic male role models (boomer parents have this is far too large of a quantity) a long with modern society/the internet. There a lot of people looking for someone to blame for how their lives turned out. The Internet makes incels if you watch a couple of the wrong videos/frequent the wrong forums.
- Comment on Does Hexbear mandate all users to specify their preferred pronouns? 1 year ago:
Trumps campaign got off the ground from internet memes and satire groups on places like 4chan and reddit. There’s so many idiots out there looking for something to grasp onto and make their identity. You can’t get a satire/parody group too large or it breaths life of it’s own.
Poes law: without a clear indicator of the author’s intent, any parodic or sarcastic expression of extreme views can be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of those views.

I sold a wow account 15 years ago that was decked out for the time (guild broke up) for $1,000. Kept getting emails for years. Eventually I got sick of it and responded to one saying the account had changed hands and they banned it immediately. They only care about people selling/trading things outside of their system. They get a wiff of an account being sold and they’ll nuke it.
- Comment on Diablo® IV is coming to Steam 1 year ago:
Blizzard is a shit company that exploits their customers, their employees and had a huge sexual harassment issue recently. Overall just a complete shit company making overpriced mediocre games. They used to be great, which is why they draw so much hate for now being awful.

How? If they make laws to stop discrimination you can’t exclude it protecting select groups. That’s just legitimizing discrimination as a form of corrective action for… discrimination…
- Comment on Microsoft Needs So Much Power to Train AI That It's Considering Small Nuclear Reactors 1 year ago:
Yes, and they could just live in the virtual reality so they never have to stop providing power. It’d be perfect
- Comment on Microsoft Needs So Much Power to Train AI That It's Considering Small Nuclear Reactors 1 year ago:
I bet it’d be a whole lot easier to grow and organic computer if you didn’t have to worry about pesky things like people thinking you grew genetically engineered slaves.

The human body produces a lot of electrical impulses. What if they just took all their workers and put them in some type of “work pod” and harnessed the energy to run the large scale AI?

So the people providing the content that everyone shows up for get charged more, man that’s a weird business model. Like running a cable network that charges channels to be on it.
- Comment on Open for discussion 1 year ago:
I don’t know if it’s the way they’re sorted or the voting, but the comments sections are well less mind numbingly stupid. People at least make logical arguments and have a point generally. Not a whole bunch of recycled bullshit. On Reddit I could guess with about a 75% certainty what the top comment was going to be before I even opened it.
- Comment on What is the attraction to kids? 1 year ago:
Don’t try to understand it. You aren’t going to get a good answer. It’s a horrible mental illness level of sexual preference.
Anything can be sexualized with enough impulse and experiences. Everyone’s got some weird dark fetish shit. Some of it’s illegal in practice. Normal people bury that shit or only discuss it in therapy. While talking it out so they can hopefully never think about it again.
I’m sure there’s different answers to this just like “why are there serial killers?”. Just be glad it confuses you.

Not to mention if we do this at enough scale it will raise the salinity of the ocean and, you know, kill everything.
