A model once said that she got paid $25,000.00 every time she posed for pictures, and Donald loved the camera more than she did.

Yeah I think the name is a factor.
The other factor is simplicity, it’s a very American brand that is iconic.
It’s also what poor people eat, I think some part of him understands the value of being relatable, ironically though this doesn’t make him relatable.

It’s because he’s paranoid about being poisoned…
Long before he was president he’d send people “undercover” to buy large amounts of fast food, then he’d eat a random portion. I suspect he even has others eat from the total first. That’s why he always serves to cold to sports teams and the like. He’s used to the crazy delays it comes with, he’s likely never had it fresh.
It’s also why he’s so fat. If everytime you ate it was from a pile of cold fast food and even after full there’s a pile left, anyone would over eat and become as obese as trump. That would take a godawful amount of willpower to resist, but constantly caving to cravings would fundamentally rewire your brain.

He actually has a number of weird idiosyncratic tendencies, and the consistency and randomness of getting something pre-made means no one can spit in your food.
Also, he’s old enough that McDonalds used to be good during his impressionable years. Maybe the “Donald” part helped, but it a bigger mental issue than just the name.
