It’s a massive improvement over the political posts they’re meant to replace.

This dog is a rescue, so you are correct in this case. But people who buy unhealthy breeds from breeders are just as much the problem as the breeders themselves. If the demand for these breeds disappeared, the breeders would stop. It’s their job and they only exist to meet market demand.
- Comment on Make me feel like a man 6 days ago:
Excellent! I am sorry for disparaging your contribution to the thread. I get really worked up about people supporting breeders who perpetuate unhealthy breeds, but of course the ones that already exist need good homes.

Vanity breed who struggles to breathe? Hell no.

Jager contains a muscle relaxant, so that chair is likely covered in shit and piss. Depending on how much they drink at once, of course.

Fucking God dammit.

- Comment on Palworld dev isn’t impressed by "so-called" AAA, prefers indies since they "include the kind of systems you can’t find in other games" 1 week ago:
The AAA label can be misleading. I’ve been playing Dying Light: The Beast, which is technically a AAA game, but it has an indie jankiness to it that all open world Techland games have which is part of its charm.
People who swear off AAA games seem to think that they’re all COD, and they’re missing out on the good ones.
FromSoftware is a AAA studio. And there are plenty of AAA studios that resist the typical enshittification common to big budget studios. Now that I’m thinking about it, a lot of the “good” triple A studios that come to mind are based in Europe or Japan. USA style capitalism is the problem, not AAA studios themselves.

Personally I don’t think Musk knew about or controls these accounts. If he did he would never have allowed the location update to go through. These accounts are likely owned by various billionaires and Putin (a trillionaire).

Those disposable cups can fuck off. Someone is going to litter their cup, it’s inevitable.
- Comment on Pokémon Lazarus: When a Fan Game Becomes a Conversation 3 weeks ago:
Understanding the concept of sarcasm and recognizing it amidst a conversation are very different things.
Also: autism isn’t the only type of neurodivergence and failure to recognize sarcasm isn’t a trait that 100% of autistic people share.
- Comment on Pokémon Lazarus: When a Fan Game Becomes a Conversation 3 weeks ago:
Lemmy appears to have a lot of autistic users on it, which explains the struggles to understand sarcasm. But autistic people tend to be open-minded and we’re often targeted by the same bigots that you’re lamenting about. So while the sarcasm thing is an issue, it’s also a sign of an open-minded user base.

I also don’t think there’s any reason to brush in the morning unless you already ate breakfast. The habit of brushing your teeth first thing after getting up is all about getting rid of morning breath. And I’m perpetually single, so I don’t care.

- Comment on This Plastic Mr. Fantastic 2 months ago:
I’m seeing a lot of articles putting the rate at 5%. Google is just so much worse than it used to be…
That 5% figure is 3 years old, and one report from 2018 had the figure at 8.7% so it appears to be dropping. Based on the political climate in the US that number is unlikely to my rise anytime soon.
- Comment on This Plastic Mr. Fantastic 2 months ago:
Yes, based on what I’ve read. Less than 5% of the plastic that consumers place in recycling bins actually gets recycled. The rest is shipped to other countries, who then dump it in the ocean. When you throw plastic in the garbage it ends up in a domestic landfill. Landfills certainly aren’t ideal, but at least we know where it is, and it’s better than the ocean.
- Comment on This Plastic Mr. Fantastic 2 months ago:
Plastic recycling is one of the primary sources of microplastics. They use jets of air to remove labels, which creates an enormous cloud of microplastic. People who live near plastic “recycling” plants have more plastic in their bodies than people who don’t.
There are articles about this out there.
- Comment on Ethical alternatives to Spotify 2 months ago:
Qobuz has been good for me so far. I ran out of data the first month just because of the increased quality, so I may have to upgrade to an unlimited data plan. I mostly just use it to download albums rather than stream.
The increase in audio quality coming from Spotify is absolutely noticeable, especially for certain bands who put a lot of extra work into their production. Listening to Tool albums on Qobuz is like a brand new experience.
- Comment on How to poop outdoors in a way that won’t harm the environment and other hikers 3 months ago:
I appreciate the suggestion. I’m not in Colorado but the heat waves we’ve been getting in Washington have the made the normally soft soil into something that cannot be dug into without some serious tools. My ultralight trowel cannot do a thing to this stuff.
Keeping a couple of these bags in my kit is a great idea.

People are sensitive about this. I didn’t think our opinions were controversial but you got a downvote within a few minutes of leaving your comment. That was fast.
We’re not even criticizing it, just saying it’s not for us. I was born in 85 and used computers in the computer lab in the 90s that were too old to even have mice, they were keyboard only. We played educational games on them like Oregon Trail and lots of math games. These graphics remind me of those. I’m just not interested in going back that far.
- Comment on Caves of Qud wins the Hugo Award for Best Game or Interactive Work 3 months ago:
The graphics are too primitive for me, which is a shame. I don’t consider myself a graphics snob, but this looks like something that came out 35 years ago.

Maybe I’m the problem for clicking on a post about a game I haven’t played yet, but also maybe if you include a major spoiler as your second sentence, your first sentence should mention the incoming spoiler.
Just a suggestion.

- Comment on Spotify to raise prices in September 3 months ago:
Yes! It always does the loading spin animation for like 10 seconds before it shows me my downloaded album. And some albums just never work at all. I have to go online and then offline again just to make it work at all, which defeats the purpose of being offline in the first place.
I just started my free qobuz trial though, and canceled my Spotify account. I mentioned their CEO as the reason I canceled.
- Comment on Spotify to raise prices in September 3 months ago:
The offline features on Spotify are abysmal. Half my downloaded albums don’t even work. It’s the primary reason I’m looking for an alternative. How can an app with such a high market share be this shitty?
- Comment on Please tell me 4 months ago:
Yeah! All aluminum cans have a thin plastic lining. So do soup cans. They’re still both better than plastic packaging, but it just shows how difficult it is to completely remove plastic from your life.
I drink a lot of beverages that come in aluminum cans so I am reaaaally hoping that they have less microplastic risk than 100% plastic packaging does.
- Comment on Please tell me 4 months ago:
They have excellent iced tea, too. They’re sweetened with agave nectar, so the whole 20 ounce can only has like 6 grams of sugar and isn’t too sweet.
- Comment on Please tell me 4 months ago:
Liquid Death isn’t bottled, it’s canned. They’re whole gimmick is “death to plastic” which is a little ironic considering that aluminum cans have a plastic lining.
Still, it’s a great product. They’ve eliminated 99.9% of the plastic, so I think the slogan still works.
- Comment on Why do people hate coldplay? 4 months ago:
I don’t “hate” Coldplay, I nothing them. I don’t care for their sound at all, but am routinely forced to listen to it in stores. I resent being forced to listen to music, but don’t hate the bands themselves.
The stores who play ten songs on a loop can go fuck themselves, however.
