Instead of talking about the Melania movie, people should be encouraging people to watch the Michelle Obama documentary “Becoming” on Netflix
99% of the time when I get exposed to content that sucks, it's because of other people creating content about the content they also think sucks.

Ragebait sells. They know people will get angry and click on it which drives up their engagement numbers. Best not to engage with algorithmic feeds and instead curate your feeds to only have creators that actually respect you.

I try to do this. Which is exactly why I don’t generally get exposed to content I don’t want to see directly. And I can’t always just follow the carefully curated list because you know… I need to find people/communities to put on the carefully curated list. Even on Lemmy, I try to block users and communities that post content I don’t care for, but it’s always worming it’s way through one way or another.

Yeah, I don’t watch reaction videos. They’re the shittiest form of content.

Seriously, i never click on a vid thumbnail if it has some random person's dumb head overlaying it. And i immediately close a video app/webpage if I'm watching something and a reaction person randomly pops up

“What’s up guys” starting off the video is another tip off that it is going to suck

I made a post about this before, why propagate what you hate?

“Everything I know about the Kardashians I have learned against my will”

I feel this with Spongebob Squarepants.
I found out about the show because a friend of mine was into it, and they would tell me some of the gags from the show and I thought it was funny as hell. So I watched some episodes.
I thought my friend’s delivery of the gags was actually better. So the actual show kinda disappointed me.

One of my favourite types of media is the brutal and methodical dissection of a bad piece of art. I’ve probably happily spent several hours watching the ATLA movie get ripped apart and haven’t even seen the movie.

90% of everything sucks.
Sturgeon’s law states that “ninety percent of everything is crap,” suggesting that most works in any field are of low quality. This observation was made by science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon to highlight that low-quality content exists across all genres and areas of life.

That is 99% meta!

And every time I read about something that “everyone is talking about” is when someone publishes something about “how everyone is talking” about it.

That’s why I block bait and people who post it.

I hate the word content. It’s so generic. Like, am I just a vessel to be filled with “content”?

That’s why I try, as much as possible, to share only the things I like and am passionate about. There’s already enough negativity in the world without me adding more.
mintiefresh@piefed.social 2 days ago
Yeah this is the way. It’s much more pleasant to be around positivity imo.

Thank you for doing that!!
