- Comment on There's a plethora of valid ways to compare apples and oranges 4 days ago:
They are very comparable. Both round fruit, often cut into wedges, both can be used to obtain juice.
I think what they saying “don’t compare apples and oranges” is tryingvto convey is that we shouldn’t judge an orange by the standards we judge apples. It would be silly to eat an orange and complain that it wasn’t enough like an apple.

Where do we draw the line?

And they all had running mates named Tim. I blame Tim.
- Comment on 50 percent off and buy 1 get 1 free are the same deal. 1 week ago:
Would depend on whether you have use for two cars
- Comment on 50 percent off and buy 1 get 1 free are the same deal. 1 week ago:
Well if you buy two of the thing, then the two deals are functionally the same. However, if you only want to buy one, then it’s not the same thing. One gives you thing at half price, the other makes you spend the same amount as full price but gives you double the product
- Comment on 50 percent off and buy 1 get 1 free are the same deal. 1 week ago:
And two for the price of one

The game I’m talking about was a free download
- Comment on What is with games that are completely different from what is advertised? 2 weeks ago:
Yeah but I don’t get the purpose of lying. Why not just actually create the game they’re advertising? If they can make the ad, can’t they make the game?

After a few generations, they’d start to forget
- Comment on If everyone spontaneously became the same race the world would realize that the rich are the real problem 2 weeks ago:
In the show All In The Family, Archie isn’t just bigoted against non-caucasians; he’s bigoted against the polish, Irish, Italians, etc… He’s less bigoted against those groups than he is against non-whites, but still bigoted. He’s also bigoted against catholics
- Comment on If everyone spontaneously became the same race the world would realize that the rich are the real problem 2 weeks ago:
It’ll ultimately just lead to even more discrimination against the poor
- Comment on If everyone spontaneously became the same race the world would realize that the rich are the real problem 2 weeks ago:
Where people draw racial lines is arbitrary. I guess it is largely defined by skin colour and culture
- Comment on If everyone spontaneously became the same race the world would realize that the rich are the real problem 2 weeks ago:
I’d like for everyone to have green skin and antennae

If I really wanted an excuse to hate people, I’d hate people who make dumb complaints about movies

- Comment on Avatar (the one with the blue aliens) is such a weird franchise 2 weeks ago:
I was genuinely surprised the second one made money. I thought nobody would still care about the franchise. But alas, sometimes the majority like movies that I don’t and vice versa. I’m not going to be an idiot and go on posts about Avatar saying “nobody asked for more Avatar movies”. I didn’t ask for more. But they’re naking tons of money so clearly, somebody is asking for more.

In Star Trek the main form of entertainment is holoprograms, yet they also have stage plays

It’s like the paradox about whether the set of sets that don’t contain themselves contains itself

Scarily plausible
- Comment on Dogs don't understand many words but they understand your voice tone and your body movements 2 weeks ago:
You’d be surprised how much dogs understand. My sister’s dog really seemed to understand my sister was pregnant and would point at her belly when asked where the baby was
- Comment on Human civilization won't last forever; someday there will be a last movie ever made 2 weeks ago:
Does any form of entertainment really die though? We still have stage plays and novels even though entertainment has evolved to films and television
- Comment on Human civilization won't last forever; someday there will be a last movie ever made 2 weeks ago:
Original movies are being released every week. If you care enough to complain, you should care enough to look up what movies are coming out

I have never heard that phrase
- Comment on It is linguistically impossible to behave anyone but yourself 2 weeks ago:
The daughter is behaving herself, not behaving someone else. In English, we don’t say “behave your daughter”
