My proposed compromise: we should have a system with 0 at freezing point but the same sized degree increments as Fahrenheit, so boiling point would be 180

What was the water temperature?
- Comment on [deleted] 3 days ago:
0 Kelvin
- Comment on [deleted] 3 days ago:
The metric system is French
- Comment on [deleted] 3 days ago:
Canada uses both systems. The temperature outside is reported in Celsius but my oven temperatures are in Fahrenheit
- Comment on [deleted] 3 days ago:
Even Kelvin is an arbitrary system. 0 being absolute 0 has a scientific basis but the size of the degree increments us arbitrary abd chosen based on the Celsius system

Yes, that’s what’s causing all the issues in the Untied States. The gun violence. The fascism. The failure to prevent an unrepentant criminal from seizing power. The for-profit prisons incentivizing locking up the innocent. The thugs being sent into the streets to terrorize citizens. It’s all because of how temperature is measured.

Reminds me of the black mirror episode where someone has the power to change reality, whatever she says happened in the past retroactively comes true. Probably inspired by the Mandela effect

This photo does look blue and black to me but when it was a big controversy, it looked white and gold to me

As a small child, when I first heard of the concept of racism, my first reaction was “they think all people of a certain race share the same brain? That’s stupid”. It’s a little more complicated than that but basically yeah, racists think people of the same race automatically share certain personality traits, which is pretty stupid
- Comment on How possibly? 1 week ago:
Depends on how you define stupid, some scientists are stupid in certain areas of life

I think some people refuse to believe anything that bad is happening BECAUSE nothing is being done about it. See that house ablaze? No, it can’t be, because if it were, the firefighters would be putting it out

For which treatment involves helping them take responsibility for their choices. Some people instead decide they can’t possibly control their choices and choose to be helpless

Some people have no sense of actions resulting in consequences. Some people will eat fattening food and then complain as if they had no choice in the matter. Much like in college when you constantly hear people complaining that they’re not ready for an exam because they spent last evening drunk watching TV instead of studying, as if that wasn’t a choice they made.
