Every time I see stories like this I feel sorry for the kid. Never learning to socialize with other kids their own age, and not getting taken seriously by adults until they’re much older.

Nah, her educational track allowed her to skip right past the “She thinks she’s sooo smart. Let’s show her she’s not so smart,” phase of her life, disappointing many student and teacher bullies.

Never learning to socialize with other kids their own age

Even when going through a normal education system, this would not happen. The difference in both ability and interests is so large that there’s little shared basis for socialization.

not getting taken seriously by adults until they’re much older.

Why do you think that’s the case?

And it usually turns out there were a number of loopholes or special exceptions made. Every community wants to have a “child prodigy”

Still extremely impressive and way smarter than any of us, but the gap is not as drastic as it is often made out to be

Yeah, thats why she can be smart. Most people are stupid, some are very stupid. Staying away from stupid does wonders for mental clarity.

Personnel anecdot here, my brothers and I were homeschooled and didn’t engage with many that werent on the same accelerated curriculum we were on. We didn’t have to suffer from dumb downed lessons and constant repetitive busy work.

I usually finnished my weeks work of school in 2-4 days. I never understood how kids stayed busy at school all the time?

Anyway, thats all to say that, socializing can be done correctly, or to one’s own detriment.

same here. socialization made me dumber and it actively discouraged learning and achievement.

becoming anti-social was the best thing I ever did for my mental health, and academics. my grades went from Cs to As once I stopped wasting time getting drunk with people who didn’t give a shit about me.

      everything costs a cost.

is it better to be ‘normal’ than be extraordinary? you don’t know if this person is unhappy.

Incredibly smart and without the wisdom to understand that extending the lifespan is actually a very bad thing in nearly every conceivable way.

In the article, the kid himself explains that he is doing all this because he wants to create support humans who are biologically immortal

Can’t wait for this kid to usher in a new form of Ubermensch to opress the rest of us.

Relax, they’ll burn out in two years and kill themselves in an overdose at 23.
