The points they made about Cardcaptors are mostly correct, but the adaptation we got also removed all the deeply problematic age gap romances which is a welcome censorship.

"Problematic age gap romances" like what?

Sakura’s friend Rika is in a relationship with their teacher for one, apparently with an engagement in the manga according to wiki. I mostly watched the anime, so I’ll have to trust that. I think Kaho, their substitute teacher later on, is with Eriol, unless I read that one wrong. It’s been awhile.
AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 2 days ago A minor is in love with an adult teacher in the manga. The adult doesn’t go out of his way to deny the illicit relationship.

Most of these were unwatchable back in the day. I remember being so pissed off when SD Gundam aired.
yakko@feddit.uk 2 days ago Someone in the comments there said the same author called SD Gundam “perfect from start to finish” like a month ago but I couldn’t find the article where he said it. I basically agree with all his picks though, a lot of anime was needlessly bowdlerised and made (more) insipid at the altar of “localisation”.

A quick skim indicates that they’re talking about heavily-cut nonstandard localizations and some kids’ series that weren’t any good the first time around. None of these are classic or groundbreaking (there was kids’ anime on North American network TV before them), they’re just old.
