There were also no left handed people using the same logic.

And almost no gay people. They treated them just as good as black people. Curious

Yeah just the kid that kept getting stomach cramps every time there were eggs and that one kid who died on shrimp night.
atticus88th@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Their kid died and they typically could afford to have 7 others as backups.
Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 22 hours ago
Well, they definitely couldn’t afford it, but that sure wasn’t gonna stop em!

I don’t think I’ve actually seen a post vote count be in the negatives yet on Lemmy until this one.

Honestly, the food industry has developed a lot of tasty, addictive and deeply unhealthy edibles in the past 30-40 years. 🤷

edibles? that’s a different industry.

There were no food allergies because they died of anaphylaxis as infants. There was no autism because they were institutionalized as "mentally retarded,’ hidden from the public and often killed themselves. There were no gays because they had to hide or be lynched. There were no transgender people because they had to hide who they were, and many died by suicide. And they were “fine” with no vaccines because anyone who didn’t have a strong enough immune system Died. So get this bullshit out of here if you’ve ever relied on a young person to care for you, modern medicine to keep you alive, mental Healthcare to keep you from slipping into senile insanity, and the compassion of others. You’re still alive because your offspring saw your lack of empathy, and realized how important it really is…

Even back in the 2000s to 2010s, I didn’t have a food allergy because ‘hazelnuts make my mouth itch so much I struggle to breathe’ meant I was a picky eater. I didn’t have ADHD and autism, I just needed to grow up and get serious about school, and was a weird nerd at the same time. Meltdown because the sun shone in my face for too long? Grow the fuck up. I also wasnt queer, I was just a tomboy that would have a glow up eventually and become a feminine woman.

Had a similar problem, though not as severe, with certain fruits. Cherries, peaches, apples, pears,…
I thought it would be solved when I mentioned it at allergologist as a kid when I was there wirh my mom. She just said “yes, that’s related to your pollen allergies, don’t eat them.”
Problem solved, right? No. Queue the “but they’re homegrown” and “apples are part of Christmas tradition” arguments. How does that help?

Adding to this (not wanting to engage on the main post): allergies have been increasing also because our environment is getting more polluted by the day. Unfortunately, allergies not being known and detected earlier means that good studies on the “real” increase of allergies are really hard to make. Same with mental health issues, that “didn’t exist” some decades ago (people either could bare it or committed suicide, that was incredibly often covered up by the family because it was shameful)
