- Comment on Is ironing clothes significantly less common now? 1 day ago:
I think it has to do with the materials clothes are made out of typically being more wrinkle resistant these days. No one ever liked ironing so as people were developing new textiles they had an eye towards that.
- Comment on Is it theoretically possible Trump and ICE are killing a very large number of immigrants (like 25% of those detained) and no one knows? 1 week ago:
Actually this is pretty good evidence they haven’t started doing that yet. There would be leaks.
- Comment on Is it theoretically possible Trump and ICE are killing a very large number of immigrants (like 25% of those detained) and no one knows? 1 week ago:
I’m not sure that your second point is still a constant, though this is just an opinion and I’m open to discussion on this. They seem to have solved the problem of people not being up to mass killings, through desensitization through social media (I’m thinking of telegram groups specifically). There have been a lot of cases shown recently of people taking outright glee in their and others’ grotesque murders, en masse.
- Comment on This Autonomous Snow Blower Shovels on its Own, Recharges Itself, and Keeps Going 1 week ago:
I’m also thinking like…snow-blowers are kinda dangerous. How does it know it’s not about to chew through your limb or pet? Does it just charge through whatever? If it doesn’t do that, then does it get stuck randomly thinking it’s trying to keep you safe but actually there’s just snow in its way.

- Comment on Are there any women here who felt they didn't deserve to be called women? 2 weeks ago:
Pretty sure the second half of what I said covers that and again my advice is to ask a professional who is supportive of and experienced in helping people deal with these sorts of thoughts
- Comment on Correlation equals causation 2 weeks ago:
Yeah but like the thing that causes addiction is poverty (or some other unmet needs or trauma) so it doesn’t really matter.
- Comment on Are there any women here who felt they didn't deserve to be called women? 2 weeks ago:
I’m just gonna come out and say what other people seem to be dancing around. These are things that a trans man would say. Not saying that’s necessarily the case for you but like it’s probably worth trying to find someone affirming and professional to discuss dysphoria with.

- Comment on First-In-Human Trial Of CRISPR Gene-Editing Therapy Safely Lowered Cholesterol, Triglycerides 4 weeks ago:
There are a lot more problems in trying to create the infrastructure to enforce sanctioned uses of any readily accessible technology than there is in the use of said tool. The people who want to do the most harm inevitability wind up in the oversight position, while society tends to create enforcement mechanisms at a social, interpersonal level organically already.
- Comment on Where's my JUUL? 5 weeks ago:
Yeah, drugs aren’t a good coping mechanism for trauma in general?
- Comment on Where's my JUUL? 1 month ago:
I don’t use, personally, though I have had opiates for acute pain as most people have. I’m just not a judgemental asshole. Opium isn’t the problem, fent is.
- Comment on Where's my JUUL? 1 month ago:
Poverty and trauma makes peoples faces gaunt and haggardly and destroys lives. Heroin addiction is one of many other potential symptoms of poverty and trauma. Plenty of people use opiates and opioids medically and recreationally to no ill effects. The drugs are a comfortable scapegoat for people who care more about maintaining their personal status quo than the ability for other people to survive.

- Comment on Cams, anyone? 2 months ago:
When I needed this I reached for whatever generic rtmp cameras were well rated. Blocked them from external access at the firewall level and used Zoneminder and some custom scripts to monitor.
- Comment on Knows more than most scientists… according to one extremely reliable source: themselves 2 months ago:
I think it’s also about cult mindsets. If a scientist says the earth is billions of years old that also means there’s no heaven and the alienated existence under capitalism is all you get. There’s a phrase I heard from religious-types: “would you rather this be the closest you get to heaven or hell?” They really see earth as hell and are only here to recruit and die.

No shit I mean like, how is that not really gross? Does it clean the towel? Or move it from a clean to dirty compartment for someone to clean each day when it runs out? Isn’t it thicker than a paper towel, and therefore gonna run out faster?
