Yeah, drugs aren’t a good coping mechanism for trauma in general?
- Comment on Where's my JUUL? 2 days ago:
I don’t use, personally, though I have had opiates for acute pain as most people have. I’m just not a judgemental asshole. Opium isn’t the problem, fent is.
- Comment on Where's my JUUL? 2 days ago:
Poverty and trauma makes peoples faces gaunt and haggardly and destroys lives. Heroin addiction is one of many other potential symptoms of poverty and trauma. Plenty of people use opiates and opioids medically and recreationally to no ill effects. The drugs are a comfortable scapegoat for people who care more about maintaining their personal status quo than the ability for other people to survive.

When I needed this I reached for whatever generic rtmp cameras were well rated. Blocked them from external access at the firewall level and used Zoneminder and some custom scripts to monitor.
- Comment on Knows more than most scientists… according to one extremely reliable source: themselves 1 month ago:
I think it’s also about cult mindsets. If a scientist says the earth is billions of years old that also means there’s no heaven and the alienated existence under capitalism is all you get. There’s a phrase I heard from religious-types: “would you rather this be the closest you get to heaven or hell?” They really see earth as hell and are only here to recruit and die.

No shit I mean like, how is that not really gross? Does it clean the towel? Or move it from a clean to dirty compartment for someone to clean each day when it runs out? Isn’t it thicker than a paper towel, and therefore gonna run out faster?

BDS worked on South Africa, but it was a pariah state at the national level in most of the world. You have to get your taxes to stop going to Israel for that to work tbh.
Doesn’t mean I don’t participate. What little we can do does a little, and is worth doing.
- Comment on BlueSky has drama so the Fedi-Marketers are waking from their slumber 2 months ago:
The waffles thing is because Jesse Singal keeps referencing a tweet that says something to the effect of “people take someone saying ‘I like pancakes’ to mean ‘I hate waffles’”, which, yeah, if you’re saying “I like straight white Christian men” you’re probably saying you hate at least some other groups but anyway that’s where the dog whistle came from.

- Comment on Signal Protocol and Post-Quantum Ratchets 2 months ago:
It’s actually way simpler than that. It was funded by the CIA for a long time because it was used to support insurgencies that the CIA was into. They pulled that a while back because Americans were getting into it, hence all the calls for donations in the past several years.
Too bad I forgot where I heard this. May not be true, idk, who knows these days. But it makes sense.
