Fishburne was very diplomatic when asked for his opinion on the finished Matrix 4: “it was better than I expected, but not as good as I had hoped”.
Hugo weaving, the actor for Smith, didn’t appear in the film due to alleged scheduling conflicts, but I suspect he took a look at the script and noped out of it.
It’s a shame, it could’ve been good.
No way Lana Wachowski didn’t fucking tank Matrix 4 on purpose. It’s evening the fucking dialog it couldn’t be more clear
This has to be it. I watched the RLM video where they say the same thing, then I watched the movie for myself and in the first five minutes of dialog when the new Smith says “our bosses at Warner Brothers” and I was just like “ooookay”
Didn’t he not even want to do Infinity War and Endgame, which were actually solid stories? I have a feeling he wants no part of The Matrix at this point.
So he was expecting a major shitshow and was positively surprised that it was just a bit of smelly poop?
Smith: Now what? Things have changed. The market’s tough. I’m sure you can understand why our beloved parent company, Warner Brothers, has decided to make a sequel to the trilogy.
Neo: What?
Smith: They informed me they’re gonna to do it with or without us.
Neo: I thought they couldn’t do that?
Smith: Oh, they can, and they made it clear they would kill our contract if we didn’t cooperate.
The film itself explained pretty well why it exists and why it wasn’t good.
I honestly can’t tell if you’re trolling or not…

When going in, I knew resurrections wasn’t a very serious movie, but it caught me off guard when they directly spelled out this in front of me.
Resurrections was basically a parody of the original trilogy, along with the politics going on in the background of producing Resurrections. The Wachowskies didn’t want to do it at all, but ended up taking the reigns because WB would have made it without them, so they used the opportunity to basically shit all over WB and Hollywood and capitalism in general.
I’ve watched it. It is, though it also makes more sense in the context of the film’s plot.
That’s actually crazy to me. There must be some untold personal reason.
I assume it was because the story involved everyone around Trinity and Neo being different/recast.
That’s ok. The movie will be terrible no matter who plays the role.
Matrix resurrections was nothing without morpheus and smith
I felt like Matrix Resurrections was kind of a circle jerk against itself.
Boss: “Mr. Anderson. We want you to write a game for this old franchise”
Neo: “but it’s dead. Why don’t we make something new, and exciting.”
Boss: “💵”
Wait a second, what do you mean “Matrix 5”?
Don’t we have enough of those already? Are they going after the “Saw” record or what?
The latest one was so very bad. As were the two before. Give it up, guys.

I’m still definitely gonna watch it. It’ll be bad, but I’m gonna watch it.
Not like in the theater for money. After it’s floating out on the high seas.
But even if it’s bad it’s still a nostalgia trip back to something that was undeniably amazing.
