- Comment on A real question about trans athletes and records 3 days ago:
I will maybe get destroyed for this comment, as I have in the past, but oh well…
The trans in sports topic shouldn’t be considered this binary issue that defines your political alignment or morals.
It undeniably seems more complicated than some make it out to be. Use silly over exaggerated examples: if a man becomes a steroid popping powerlifter professionally, then decides to transition to being a woman, should he then be allowed to compete in women’s powerlifting competitions? Over exaggeration, but there’s a point isn’t there? I don’t really know, but it seems like in this thought experiment, she would easily beat out all other competitors. Insert any other sport where men dominate over women due to biology. Is this a bad way to think? If so, why? You made the example in swimming.
I will forever support and vote politically to protect all minorities, including the LGBT community. I will always reject bigotry. But saying this is not a complicated issue, just doesn’t seem right. And questioning it in this way, doesn’t make me a bigot. Let trans athletes compete in any sport? Categorize them differently? I don’t know, Im not sure it’s that easy.
At the end of the day, this stuff really is a distraction that creates infighting to shift focus away from more important things. The oligarchy likes this distraction because we’re not talking about how they’re exploiting all of us. This is the kind of thing where I say “I honestly don’t know, but why aren’t we taxing the billionaires?”

I’m one of the moderate fanboys and I love gpt5 and not having to switch models anymore, compared to before. So far, it’s pretty good about when to think longer and when to give quick answers.
That being said, I don’t use it for anything other than STEM concepts and coding tasks. I have no idea what the complainers use it for.
I did here that people though it had less “personality”. Funny, I did notice it got more concise in its answers. This was an improvement for me, but I’m using it as a tool, not a friend or therapists or something. To each their own.

It would blow things up even faster
We are already on the way to the dollar collapsing
Humans are already doing and causing all this.
they have no capacity to reason nor analyze
Nobody thinks LLMs are intelligent or conscious or able to reason, other than stupid people.
It’s a software tool. The anti-ai cult is way overthinking it. It’s insanely valuable and impressive to me as an engineer at small tasks. Fails at large tasks, but generally gets close at 80-90% which is undeniably impressive for what it is, an unintelligent machine learning LLM software tool. It’ll either improve, or something else better will come along to replace it.
Would you trust an LLM to manage your own monthly budget numbers and categorize things properly?
Sure, as a software tool to assist in the same way I might use any other software tool to make life easier. You should probably check and verify the results to verify correctness.
At the end of the day, I don’t really care. I sympathize much more with the accelerationist attitude, then protection of the status quo. If your argument is using LLMs will bring about a downfall of the system in any way, well then I can only get so erect. Hook it to my veins please.
Even by your argument, we have imbeciles like trump elected as the president of the United States, the worlds most powerful economic and military empire. Religious wars are still a thing in 2025. Putins oligarchy dictatorship is killing Ukrainian civilians, kidnapping children, and torturing POWs. This place is a fucking clown show. Let it burn.
I’m not arguing AI is intelligent or a save all for anything. I only comment on the anti-ai cult stuff as it seems more like crowd mentality nonsense. Let them use LLMs to analyze financial markets or whatever. It ain’t like skynet where they just turn it on and walk away, lol. I truly and honestly don’t think it could get any worse than the system we currently have though.
Meh.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 month ago:
Honestly, why would that be worse than greedy, sociopathic billionaire investors and Milton freedman style free market capitalists making all the decisions?
Shit, I’ll take a shitty LLM or even a developmentally challenged labradoodle making financial decisions over the current exploitative capitalist slop we have today.

Let it fucking burn. We kinda deserve it.

- Comment on Why are American cops allowed to be morbidly obese? 2 months ago:
I totally agree with your thought here, I’ve thought the same thing many times. I’ve see many very overweight cops stopping at gas stations and whatnot.
How can these guys chase down an assailant? Cops should be required to be fit. I’d say they need to prove weekly they can run a mile in like 8mins? Faster? Then, once per month they need to prove they can do a 5 mile, like 45-50 mins? Seems fair.

Yikes. Listening to him talk, and his security guy or whoever that was, leaves a really sickening feeling in my gut. They come across as psychopaths for some reason. It’s that cheap charisma that feels so off-putting. I worry what those types of billionaires do in private that will never reach the light of day. Epstien Island type stuff we’ll never know about.

Thanks. Glad to hear this. I’ll definitely be buying it, just depends how long I can wait.
not sold on is the story
This was how I felt about eternal. The lore was overdone, didn’t have the doom “feel”. 2016 had simpler lore, very well done, that kept with what I felt the doom theme feels like.
That being said if the gameplay is fun, that’s what’s important.

Just cutscenes, no gameplay, as always with these trailers. Cutscenes look nice but that doesn’t mean shit.
Why can’t they show at least a glimpse of gameplay.

That’s a different topic, although I agree with you.
I’m pointing out the undeniable surface detail, you owe money to the bank for 30 years. It’s debt. Pretty simple.
I hate giving away free money to a landlord every month also. But when you get a mortgage you’re giving away free money to a bank, in the from of interest.
There could even be an argument that landlords provide more of a service, in the form of upkeep and repairs. The bank provides no service, other then fronting cash.
Tomato tomato. I hate landlords and the mortgage industry both. But generally you’re right it’s much better for the individual to own due to equity and ownership.
The shitty thing for me and many people though is owning is semi-permanent. More of a hassle to sell and move. Landlords suck when they have year leases which also makes things harder if moving is necessary, but can be easier than owning. I try to only live in places that are month to month.
Call me a commie, I’ll accept that label with pride, I think all things housing should be socialized and regulated as a public good. No more profit for banks, wall street, hedge funds, etc. And yes, that includes small time landlords. I don’t know or care how it would be organized or work (it never will), but I hate our current system. People with more wealth are able to exploit and take advantage of people with less wealth. Full stop.

Negative. If society collapse, I personally, and my family can’t eat gold. Period.
I’m not giving away precious ammo or food for gold. Either you’ve got something of value, or I’m not taking your gold. Period.
I’m talking about an extremely desperate situation, inherent to the whole “society collapse” phrase. I stand by this. Gold doesn’t mean shit. It only means something if people like you apply value to it, where there’s still some semblance of societal order and structure.

Not like in the theater for money. After it’s floating out on the high seas.
But even if it’s bad it’s still a nostalgia trip back to something that was undeniably amazing.

Agree 100%. Jewelry is ridiculous and only for stupid people obsessed with status symbols.
Gold is good for use as a coating to protect copper from corrosion in electrical circuits and wires.
Diamonds are good for drill bits?
Smart greedy people have been taking advantage of dumb people for centuries, millenia even. Spending hard earned money on this nonsense has never made sense to me, but the people selling sure are happy.
If society broke down, all this status symbol nonsense would become very quickly irrelevant. Food, water, ammo, medicine would be currency. Can’t do shit with gold unless other people think it’s valuable.
