Block and move on, no well-intentioned person would say that.

As others have already told you, this is a sexual thing.
Also, I was thinking that if you reverse the words- like if your father wants you to call him buddy instead of daddy or dad or whatever… that’s a lot less creepy, but still fucking weird.

“I love you, son”
“Thanks, buddy 👍”

If you call someone “daddy,” it means you’re having sex and you consider them to be the dominant partner in the relationship (or are roleplaying that for sexual reasons). Your language partner is being a creep.
There is some very old slang, “daddy-o,” which isn’t sexual and would be used with a friend, but using it makes you sound like a jazz musician from the 1940s.

No. I dont know how to explain it exactly, but “daddy” is way on the sexual side.

That’s either a sex thing or a horrible attempt at a joke

Just my opinion, and I’m not even sure you are actually reading these responses, but there is something incredibly predatory about the way they are trying to deceive you, a non-native English speaker who is just learning, into using a sexually loaded term. I don’t know if any of this is true, and I’m really never the type to jump at shadows and tell people what to do, but on the off chance it is, please just get this person out of your life. If you are using some sort of website or service to meet language practice partners, report them to the site and submit these pictures in the report. For the report note that “the user attempted to deceive me (a stranger) into using sexually loaded terminology”. Whether that works or not, at least block them or find a better service to practice.
Again, sorry for getting in your business, I don’t know anything about you, but please protect yourself.

It’s acceptable if you’re a small child and you are talking to your father… Otherwise, it’s a heavily sexualized word.

Pretty sure you’re talking to Barney Stintson.
Opinionhaver@feddit.uk 3 days ago
No it’s not but I think you know that. Why did you need to make a new account to ask this?

There’s no such thing as a stupid question. There are however, stupid people. They’re the ones who don’t ask questions, and therefore don’t learn.
And since I see that you’re just learning english, what I am saying is that you should never feel embarrassed to ask a question. Asking questions is how we as humans learn from others. We gain knowledge every time we ask questions, and learn from the answers. Only a fool would be afraid to ask.

What with this being c/NoStupidQuestions, I encourage you to submit this question as a post.
