Basically, title.
Looks like this could be a good fit, but curious to see what other people think.

I haven’t played it, but I just added it to my wish list. Another you might like, rimworld, but change it’s storyteller settings to peaceful.
I didn’t know Rimworld had a peaceful setting, thanks!
You can also mod RimWorld a lot too! There is a really popular modpack for medieval playthrough
Sometimes we need a break from the war crimes.
Yeah you can choose a different settings for your world. The insanity is fun to read about, but building peacefully is very addicting.
I really like farthest frontier which is chill if you turn off bandits and stuff. Its not finished yet, but i have sunk hours and hours in regardless. If you haven’t looked at it, do.
I picked up Farthest Frontiers during the recent sales, and it really surprised me. I also turned off raiders/bandits, so it’s been a super chill city builder. I love the time-speed changes on the fly. Even without aggro raider attacks, it’s still been a fun challenge to find the right balance of resources, production, population size. I’ve spent waaaay too many late nights totally sucked into it.
It’ll be cool to see where they go with it. It’s pretty well-fleshed out for an Early Access game. I didn’t expect it to be so complex and replayable. So yeah… seconding FF!
Thanks!
Loved the book series
Played it about a year ago when it was still in EA. AFAIK, the full release will be in a couple of weeks and there is a demo, which you can test ATM.
Imo this game is perfect for people who want to build a village/town and manage your economy without the hassle of attacks or else. There are some events like bad weather but almost every time it’s not that big of a deal. Last time I played, I had multiple bugs where the economy stopped working which started a spiral downwards. But this was a year ago. Oh and I forgot to mention, this game has already a pretty big mod library.
I haven’t played Foundation, but since you’re looking for laid-back and medieval, there’s a really cozy looking game I want to try called Tiny Glade that apparently has no objectives. It seems to be a pure sandbox game.
Plus, if you like supporting devs who use smaller/less-well-known engines, this one runs on Bevy, a small Rust-based engine!
Going by the lets-plays ive watched, it’s very much a sandbox, and not really a game. It’s potentially very cosy though
Thanks, I heard about it indeed!
$40 for an early access game? That’s pushing it, imo. To me that means it’s a $50/$60 game at release.
Maybe I’m still privileged from the KSP model years ago though.
I pirate games that seem interesting to me when they come out of EA and if I vibe with it after 5-10 hours I make the purchase. It’s like playing a demo.
Yeah i agree with that practice.
It’s actually very bad for a game to be refunded. Id rather demo it than do that to a dev.

I played a lot of Caesar III growing up, I even played it recently with a HD mod, definitely still solid today

I have! It is very laid-back, but I also found it to be a bit lacking in content. That was like a year ago though, and it’s my understanding that they’ve added a lot more to the game since I played.
