But it’s never going anywhere even less then lemmy. Video is expensive both in storage and bandwidth compared to text.
- Comment on ISPs seem designed to funnel people to capitalist cloud services 4 days ago:
Use hostnames and dynamic prefixes or addresses don’t really matter. Haven’t had an issue in years and my last isp changed prefixes multiple times a week. I mean technically it would not be available for five minutes when IP changes but never noticed.
- Comment on Plex now will SELL your personal data 5 days ago:
I don’t care if they probe for my media considering I block 99% of the world. Yes blah blah they could get around it. If someone really wants to see what I have on my media server that bad, I don’t think I’d be able to stop them anyway.
- Comment on Plex now will SELL your personal data 5 days ago:
So I told people download app enter this url and login. I even send out an email inviting them so they can click the link and create their own username and password. Then if they forget their password they can ask for a reset link.
- Comment on Plex now will SELL your personal data 5 days ago:
Yep I see this as the end game of Plex MPA purchases the data and goes after people.
- Comment on Plex now will SELL your personal data 5 days ago:
Sunk cost. It took me loosing my Plex watch history to say fuck it I’m going to Jellyfin.
- Comment on Plex now will SELL your personal data 5 days ago:
It was easy considering I was already using custom domain for Plex.
- Comment on Plex now will SELL your personal data 5 days ago:

All is a bit of a stretch. I imagine a big chunk of surveillance is privately owned and not even on the network. At least the cast majority I have installed over the years are usually isolated or standalone networks.

Fuck them. Oh no the insurance company is doing what it’s supposed to instead of denying everyone like they do.
- Comment on "You can't just have Geralt for every single game" says his voice actor, and if you think The Witcher 4 making Ciri the protagonist is "woke," then "read the damn books" 1 week ago:
What does reading the books have to do with the game. The books take place before the game series. Or am I mistaken.

The advertising for VPNs is do full of lies also.
- Comment on Thoughts on the recent Swiss law that might require ProtonVPN to start blocking certain domains? 1 week ago:
Yes and no. The deal is your last part is your MAC. So when your extension changes they can still track you over any ipv6 connection. The privacy extension changes the last bit so you can’t be tracked over any connection.
- Comment on Thoughts on the recent Swiss law that might require ProtonVPN to start blocking certain domains? 1 week ago:
But this has nothing against privacy just piracy.

- Comment on Fake reviews on Play Store by Plex staff 2 weeks ago:
No it’s not they have to create a Plex account if putting a URL in a window is to technical then creating an account is. Also jfa-go has made inviting so easy.
- Comment on Fake reviews on Play Store by Plex staff 2 weeks ago:
And Plex your opening 32400 not sure what your argument is.
- Comment on Fake reviews on Play Store by Plex staff 2 weeks ago:
Not that bad. It’s been about the same for Plex maybe less. Have had lots of Plex isn’t working when their servers where down.
- Comment on Fake reviews on Play Store by Plex staff 2 weeks ago:
I don’t get that. Both display content and seem very similar. Now does Jellyfin have problems yes.
- Comment on Fake reviews on Play Store by Plex staff 2 weeks ago:
I have had very old and non techie people setup Jellyfin. Putting a URL in a box is not actually rocket science. I thought it would be way harder but they did it.
- Comment on Are people blind on PeerTube? 3 weeks ago:
Yep not sustainable. Think of how much diak space YouTube is using. Just was reading this morning how peertube instances limit new users and that’s ok. If everyone can’t upload videos it we’ll never replace YouTube.
