- Comment on Gamers enraged at Ubisoft for injecting ads into the middle of video games 7 months ago:
Advertising is a drain on society that encourages regular people to choose and act suboptimally.
There are absolutely allowed to be laws around advertising and people absolutely have the right to be annoyed when those laws are not properly protecting them.
Video games are no longer a wild frontier, it’s a 50 year old established market that absolutely deserves to be legislated into proper conduct.

Vacuum cleaners are the classic example, IMO.
When introduced, they were supposed to make cleaning rugs take less time, freeing time and effort for other activities, but instead housewives just cleaned their rugs more often.

To be fair, I wasn’t expecting to hear that you were coming into a conversation about contactless payments, using a word like “skimming” and meaning something completely out-of-context.
- Comment on Let's move this along, future boy 8 months ago:
Skimming works because it attacks 1980s technology.
Contactless is much more secure.
