- Comment on Why do pot or other drug dealers "lace" their drugs knowing full well it will pretty much kill their customer base and rep? Is this not like a retail store telling customers everyday FUCK YOU and hope 2 weeks ago:
it is cheaper. allegedly it also increases the effect time of the drug. fentanyl is very powerful but also very short-lasting by itself. in a hospital setting, it would always be used in a very small dose combined with other sedatives.
- Comment on Lentils; Which, why in what? 2 weeks ago:
I use green and brown pretty much interchangeably. They’re both more chewy and have a more defined taste. I think the green are a little more savory and the brown can be a little more peppery, but that may just depend on the stock you have access to. They’re good in long cooking stews or bolognese. I like the brown in lentil salad. Split lentils have a lighter taste and cook faster. Red split lentils are good for a quick soup, chili, or pancake/lentil omelet. You can always make a dal, dal is always amazing. I never regret dal.
- Comment on Was just watching THE Newsroom Clip. Does JD still hold water? Or have we gone way past that? But in your opinion what if anything makes America great??? 2 weeks ago:
We’re still the most wealthy country per capita in the world. We just distribute that wealth in the most moronic method imaginable.

fentanyl is now being cut with xylazine/tranq, a horse tranquilizer. it makes people OD like fentanyl but narcan does nothing.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 weeks ago:
My local jail removed the library a decade ago. Regular inmates only have access to tablets for media, that they must pay for. Only people kept in the SHU/on punishment, who are denied their tablets, are given physical books, and the selection is trash. If you have a contact with someone there, I would trust them, but if your area has a non-profit that works with the jail, you could get an unbiased take by talking to that person.
- Comment on Okay... so how do depressed people even have relationships? Did they get depresion after they already got into the relationship or did they actually went dating while having depression? 2 weeks ago:
I’m dealing with short term stress (law school work) that is causing some depressive feelings, but seeing new guy is the only thing that makes me relaxed and happy. it’s basically an intentional decision to turn the other parts of my brain off and not worry about what’s stressing me out.
however, when I was super deeply depressed, no I could not have managed a relationship.
- Comment on Is school cafeteria food in America trash? 3 weeks ago:
it’s really terrible from an adult’s perspective. like frozen food dinners but worse, because it’s only for kids. but kids don’t actually know any better. they will actually look forward to some of it, even though as an adult you wouldn’t be able to enjoy it.
it’s not up to the kid though. it’s up to the parent. in the US both parents work, so if mom is too exhausted from work, you’re going to have to buy food.
- Comment on Hypothetically, if a Black Millionaire had their home broken into by a poor White person, how much danger is there of the Black Millionaire getting shot by cops "by mistake"? 3 weeks ago:
Victims getting shot by the police happens regularly to non-rich people in regular homes. I would say the risk is at least less than normal, because rich neighborhoods can afford better police services. However, it’s still definitely not zero and is definitely much higher than for white people.
- Comment on In the age of electronics, when is go to vote can I request a paper ballot instead of a machine? 3 weeks ago:
this will depend on where you are from. you should look up how to request it in your local area, and if your country doesn’t put that information online, go to your local government office and ask
- Comment on [deleted] 3 weeks ago:
It’s true. I’ve noticed a lot of British people have no idea what a multicultural country is like. It’s the same reason they ask things like, “Why do Americans say they’re Irish?” Yeah, it’s because people are treated differently based on a class system assigned at birth.
- Comment on [deleted] 3 weeks ago:
That’s because the US is not just classist but also racist. The hatred is coded through the language of racial hatred, but you’ll notice these oppressed/hated minorities are also kept excluded and impoverished. UK doesn’t have as much racial diversity, so it’s only classism for them.
- Comment on How are criminals apprehended by vigilantes able to go to prison? 3 weeks ago:
In the US there’s a concept called citizens arrest where in some states you’re able to detain people after they committed a crime. That’s it though. It’s also not recommended that anyone ever do it, because it can very easily cross the line into false imprisonment, kidnapping, or some other crime.
- Comment on If I were to go out steal 34 cars. And charged with 34 felonies. One per each car. Could I not use the presidents case in defense of my own? Why or why not? 3 weeks ago:
Sure, you can say whatever you want. The US conviction rate is in the high 90s, though. Actually innocent people go to jail all the time. It makes the rich richer.
- Comment on I am an American. I used to be proud of my country. Now it feels like a turd circling the drain. Is there anything going on behind the scene that America is actually doing good in? 3 weeks ago:
now that the DOJ doesn’t prosecute for it anymore, we’re way better at corruption. the rich take so much more of our taxes.
- Comment on Are all rich peoples clothes designer? 3 weeks ago:
They don’t have any reason to ever go to somewhere like Target or Forever 21. They only go into high end stores. Now they may occasionally see something in the high end stores that isn’t $400, but what anything costs is literally irrelevant to them. That’s assume it’s the kind of wealthy person that even bothers to pick their own clothes versus having someone else do it.
- Comment on What is your take on organ donation? 3 weeks ago:
Experts generally agree that requiring to people to opt-out significantly increases participation. Most people don’t care either way.
- Comment on Am I right to be afraid of germs / is my family disgusting or am I overreacting and this is germaphobia? (read post) 3 weeks ago:
You absolutely have to wash your hands with soap after using the bathroom. Although keep in mind that men are able to urinate without touching anything unclean. But it’s not a big deal if the trash can is touching something. It’s not like infectious disease is in it. There are normal germs, and there are harmful germs. You need to be concerned about the harmful ones, not necessarily the normal ones.
- Comment on Why is AI so bad at coming up with dialogue? 4 weeks ago:
It’s a random text generator. It doesn’t know what it’s spitting out any more than a calculator understands the meaning of the number it’s calculating. You put in text, it outputs texts its algorithm tells it are associated. That’s it.
- Comment on He has become a felon 34 times over, impeached twice, is there anything else anyone can do to get Trump out of office besides a storming the gates? 4 weeks ago:
Republicans need to go blue. They’re going to target purple areas for election fraud- deep red states need to go “That’s it, we’re done. You won’t do anything, so we’re changing parties.”
- Comment on With regards to cutlery, do you prefer a spoon or a fork for eating cake? 4 weeks ago:
Do you also cut bites of it with the chopsticks?
- Comment on Why are public school teachers so underpaid in the US? 4 weeks ago:
In the US, public schools are funded by the local tax base. If the local tax base is broke as fuck, their services will be broke as fuck. That means you’ve got crumbling sewer systems to worry about more than having well paid teachers.
- Comment on Would it be possible to have a successful career as a lawyer and never lie? 4 weeks ago:
“Due to my ethical obligations to my client, I am unable to answer that question. If your honor insists on an answer, I will need to withdraw.”
You will lose out on a lot of money though. Remember that there are two sides to every story, and it’s not the lawyer’s job to judge what the truth is. The lawyer advocates. The judge and jury decide.
- Comment on Is there any reason we were taught in school that blood is blue in the body until it reaches oxygen and then it turns red other than our veins look blue? 4 weeks ago:
You were taught by a science teacher with no science background who didn’t read the book. That often happens in districts that underfund their schools.
- Comment on My mom really love NBC Good News tonight. How come there isn't a show where they report on the good news of the day instead of all the bad crap all the time? 5 weeks ago:
because that would feel really tone deaf in the current environment
- Comment on Can one use someone's previous argument against themselves in a different legal case? 5 weeks ago:
Can the other party retort with something akin to “ah but that’s not what you said about pirated books three years ago, you only complain if it’s unfavorable to you”?
The opposing party certainly would bring that into evidence to be one of the many things the judge considers. It wouldn’t be dispositive by itself.
- Comment on Can to many hits to the head make a person the R word in animals? My bc loves to run around the house and hits his head constantly but shakes it off. He acts normal and everything exceept4 zoomies? 5 weeks ago:
All animals that have a brain can experience brain damage.
- Comment on Can some please explain to me why it is that your health insurance can deny you medication, even if your doctor says you need it? 5 weeks ago:
The reason is that doctors and pharmaceutical companies are also for profit, meaning they make money selling you treatments. This puts them in a position to use your condition to exploit both you and the company. The insurance company is balancing the cost of your preferred treatment versus the cost of other treatment and the benefits. You can work with your doctor to build a documented record of attempting to lose weight- see a nutritionist, start seeing a therapist for your food addiction, start going to weight loss meetings, exercise therapy for the morbidly obese, etc. These will also be helpful by themselves, because those drugs are only temporary. Like weight loss surgery, people regain the weight when they don’t do the work to address the underlying issue.
- Comment on Americans: How the hell do you meet new people or get into relationships after college? 5 weeks ago:
kids in their 20s can literally rent a room in a furnished house with a bunch of other 20 year olds. there are jobs in tourism that will give housing and let you experience amazing destinations that our grandparents would’ve had to save their whole lives to be able to see. like yes, it will require grit, compromise, hard work- but the rewards are so much better than sitting around your hometown thinking you have no way to get out. You do! You just have to be willing to try, willing to learn, and willing to fail.
- Comment on Americans: How the hell do you meet new people or get into relationships after college? 5 weeks ago:
the stakes of moving will never be lower than in your early 20s. one of my regrets is definitely not taking more risks, because worst case scenario I literally would’ve just moved back home without any judgement. obviously that’s not everyone’s situation, but it is the average American in their early 20’s situation.
- Comment on Americans: How the hell do you meet new people or get into relationships after college? 5 weeks ago:
Well, I don’t live in a place like that, so there’s that. Consider moving to a better city for young people for a few years.
