Isn’t buying a quest giving money to Zuckerberg directly? I don’t think I could sleep at night

Can’t we make necklaces of intense IR radiation that block out our faces? Or does that not work anymore?
- Comment on I finally decided to go full piracy against big companies 2 weeks ago:
Man ea and Ubisoft games suck so bad I don’t even bother pirating them. I’m not even being facetious, the last ea game I played was the dead space remake which was passable but also totally skippable, and I borrowed a friends ea account to do that, getting bored half way through and stopping. Had he not offered I’d not have played it at all. I think the last ea game I paid and played through was mass effect 2.
Same thing with Ubisoft. I briefly had gamepass and played AC Odyssey for three hours before losing interest, same with their terrible Greek botw wannabe.
Neither company has released anything I’ve even been interested in since that, years and years ago.
That said I still buy rockstar games, the amount of money, effort, and attention to detail that went into Red Dead 2 is simply breath taking, but by the same token i bought it for twenty bucks after pirating it to make sure i liked it and it ran well.
Other than that I’m on the same page as you. Also I’m not criticizing you, just pointing out a slight difference in opinion. I pirate two dozen games a month

Apparently my Microsoft account is some bullshit one I made for Xbox in 2006 and it thinks I’m a made up name from that time, which is pretty funny to me literally everytime I reset my PC … Which because I use win 11 is way more often than it should be
- Comment on Whoa! Windows 7's market share surged, tripling in users last month 2 weeks ago:
JFC I wish I could go back to win 7, I had to get win 11 and I’ve never hated an os like this in my life. My favorite part is how I have no control over it changing the things I actually use. No sorry, my favorite part is how right around the time an update is about to come out my windows starts crashing and locking up. It’s amazing.

- Comment on Xbox: "Price Increases Are Never Fun For Anybody" 2 weeks ago:
Is it fair to blame 343 Studios’ incredibly, laughably incompetent handling of the Halo franchise for this? And by this I mean the obvious death of the Xbox as a gaming platform. Or, from a different perspective, could Halo have actually saved the Xbox if the games had been amazing, or even just good?

- Comment on Crunchyroll Faces Cancelation: Why Anime Fans Are Choosing Piracy After Latest Update 2 weeks ago:
Even if you make good money, it is still ethically questionable to support predatory practices and financially reward the objectively evil. Piracy is ethically neutral at worst and can easily be interpreted as a net positive, at least where it comes to most media. I deliberately choose to support some obscure stuff with my dollar because I want its creators to succeed and my conscience is clean.

How to convince me to never play your game with one comment.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 4 weeks ago:
Playing everything that just came out except Chronos.
Frogslayer, a touhou project game. Basically an very simple turn based jrpg with timing element. It’s cheap and fine but I probably won’t finish it
Strange Antiquities, the sequel to Strange Horticulture, this game is more logic puzzles than anything else, but is very satisfying for a certain type of gamer. I’ll finish it
Silksong, I beat the first real boss. I’ll probably shelve it for a while, I never beat Hollow Knight and it’s a bit harder than that. Excellent game but a bit much for me at the moment
Danganronpa V3, I’m working my way through the Spike Chunsoft catalog of games after the recent release of No time to Sleep for Katane or whatever it’s called, the AI Somnium Files spinoff. Dv3 is one of two spike Chunsoft games I didn’t finish. I replayed the first two games, they’re both great, second is better than I remember. Third doesn’t quite measure up but I will. Then it’s on to the Nonary games trilogy.
428 Shibuya Scramble, another Spike Chunsoft game but a standalone, also a pure VN as iposed to the others. Unique and wonderful but I’m stuck at the end, hard even with a walkthrough. I’ll finish it within the next week or two
Metal gear solid delta remake, it’s mgs3 with better graphics and modern controls, it’s not perfect but it’s great. Only cried three times. Game is also incredibly funny if you listen to all the codecs. I just climbed the epic ladder to the torchsong music so I’m in the last 25% or so. I’m deliberately drafting it out. I’ll finish it this week.
Fairy tale survivors something something, I think it’s a Chinese survivors game tsking inspiration from fairy tales, specifically Pinocchio. It’s ok, I need to put more time into it, God knows I’ve never actually finished a survivors game
Dead break, a FMV time loop scifi horror game, it’s pretty solid for 12 bucks, but I do have nostalgia for both FMV games and outrageously gory low budget mid 90s scifi schlock which this clearly references. I’ll finish it soon, I’m just dragging it out.
Monster train 2, it’s the best current card game thingy I think, I dunno, I play it to come down from the drugs cause it doesn’t require much from me. I’ll never finish it.
I dunno there’s probably some more I forgot.

Good. The worse things get for the most people the better the chance for real change. At this point I don’t care if it’s societal collapse, revolution, corporate overlord ship or fucking whatever, just get to the point already, I can’t deal with another thirty years of circling the fucking drain and I’d really appreciate it if I could start Mad Maxing it while I’m young enough to enjoy.

- Comment on Google: 'Your $1000 phone needs our permission to install apps now'". Android users are screwed - Louis Rossmann 1 month ago:
Friend you can buy a much cheaper android phone, which is why I don’t really care much about this, though it is still obviously bad. I hate my phone, I hate cellphones in general, they’re shitty feature locked mini laptops with a subscription so I can, what, make and receive 12 phonecalls a month? Download half a gb when I’m out of wifi range? Use google maps, the literally only truly useful thing my cellphone does for me?
Anyway, because of my disdain I buy the absolute cheapest cellphone on the market that has no attached plan, once every three or four years. I got a new one last month.
It cost thirty bucks. My monthly unlimited talk and text and data plan comes to about 22$ a month.
It’s a piece of shit, obviously. But if all you’re doing is begrudgingly using it to make a couple calls, send some texts, scroll Lemmy while you’re pooping and occasionally use a map the price is appropriate.
