Jokes on you if you ever thought I am credible.

You think people doing door dash deliveries actually care about that? The average person that also uses an iPhone probably has been ok with face unlock for years.
In my workplace they rolled out the face unlock for Windows laptops some time ago. I see many many people making use of that. And I don’t care if in some cases the claim is being made (right or wrong whatever) that images don’t leave the device. The average person won’t think there is a difference to it.

If it is linux check the folder permissions. All issues I had with it and what posts I have seen online all go back to Jellyfin not having access to the folders because it was set for e.g. root user and Jellyfin was not running as that (it shouldn’t of course, just change the folder permissions to include Jellyfin).
If you installed via docker I think there is a setting to define which pernissions its container should get, maybe that is also set wrong.

I think OP meant when you do a chargeback to them.

Welp, TIL, thanks everyone for the useful detailed answers.

Thank you for giving an actual answer. But this makes me wonder, there must be some middle ground where spinning it down is not worse than keeping it running. E.g. only spinning down and up once a day or once every few hours, is there any data for that you know of?

How so?

It sounds great, but Immich wouldn’t be the first to go back on such promises when it becomes convenient. Hopefully thanks to funding via FUTO it might not ever happen, but who knows. Appreciate they write it out, but it is not like that is legally binding.
- Comment on v2.0.0: Stable Release of Immich (complete with Merch and DVD) 5 days ago:
This is fantastic to see, but I recently moved away from Immich with heavy heart because of a simple issue.
I have a very minimal setup with just a RasberryPi and an external hard drive, I don’t need to access anything from outside my home so it is not setup to be accessible via internet, just Wifi.
Since I am not home all the time I set it up that the hard drive goes to sleep after an hour or so of inactivity. It is not unusal that this means it get to be in sleep mode for 8-10 hours once or twice per day, whicb I’d assume is better for its life expectancy.
Since an update this year though something changed for Immich, I think it was connected to the postgres database… sorry, don’t remember fully since this was like 2 months ago. It would keep checking or writing on the drive and thus keep it awake the entire day. 24/7.
I found some issues on github that mentioned this from months ago and they didn’t come to a good conclusion how to solve this, so unless this is adressed I cannot use Immich, sadly. Putting postgres on the SD card instead would probably suck for how long that one will be alive.
- Comment on How to manage docker compose apps? 6 days ago:
Was looking if anyone mentioned it!
I started with portainer but it was way too complex for my small setup. Dockge works super well, starting, stopping, updating containers in a simple web interface.
Just updating Dockge itself from inside Dockge does not seem to work but to be fair I didn’t look into it that much yet.

Yes, there is no connection between Tylenol and autism.
No, saying autism existed before Tylenol, so it cannot have caused it, is just plain silly. If someone wants to derail that argument they might just pull up autism diagnosis statistics that probably went up after Tylenol came into the market. Which we all know is not connected, but once we get to that point in the discussion you’ve lost people with your point.
- Comment on it's just science, i guess 2 weeks ago:
I mean, it probably doesn’t but that explanation, “autism existed way before tylenol soit cannot cause it” is quite weak.
