There can be more than one problem.
That’s not what you’ve been saying until now.
A coup still inherently relies on there being internal forces willing to execute said coup.
No shit, what are you trying to say? Are you saying there exists political systems which are immune to people wanting to stage a coup?
I don’t dare say being capitalist could have stopped this particular one, quite likely it couldn’t. But it it is at least more resilient in general.
How would it be more resilient?
If it was impossible to resist superpower sponsored coups, I am sure the Baltics wouldn’t be able to remain democratic right next to Russia.
What coup attempts are you talking about? Let’s try to focus on coups that were at least attempted or has any substantial evidence of being in the works.
- Comment on Hrmmmmm 4 days ago:
The problem isn’t political systems, it’s superpowers intervening, e.g. america funding fascist coups of democratically elected socialists. It would be hard for any small nation, regardless of political system, to defend against a coup funded by a superpower. Please prove me wrong and tell me how e.g. the coup in Chile 1973 could have been prevented by decentralizing power.
- Comment on Hrmmmmm 4 days ago:
In many of these cases, the political system which couldn’t withstand coups were democracies. Does this mean that democracy isn’t useful? Are you saying that democracies should forbid socialists from being elected since if they get elected then america will intervene and the democracy will cease to be useful? Sounds like you don’t care for democracy and self-determination of nations. Bonus points will be awarded for being able to make your point without a potion metaphor.

Russia says they’re invading Ukraine to de-nazify them. With your logic, this reason is valid because they said so and being sceptical would be beliving in conspiary theories. Go on and continue to be an useful idiot for politicians.

There exists e.g. religious people who think porn is a sin. Saying you’d want to ban porn because it’s a sin would alienate potential voters. Therefore, they can simply take the “think of the children!” position which is a classic approach and that sounds much more appealing while still restricting access for everyone (who wants their identity associated with their porn history? Data leaks happen all the time).
Similarly, (depending on political climate) far right politicians can’t openly spout hate about foreigners since it would alienate some voters. Yet, time after time they’re revealed to have been doing it e.g. when they thought they were anonymous.
Of course you can’t know someone’s true intention, but assuming that people won’t lie and anything said by them is undoubtedly true unless somehow proven false is a bit naive.

Oh, if they say so then it must be the true. Politicians would never hide their true intentions to make their policies more appealing.

I suppose if their only source of considerable income was from snacks, then the comparison would make sense. Although it doesn’t make sense from a customer perspective where you’re paying more than 20 $/€ for a ticket (at least in Sweden)
- Comment on I'm not paying $8 for a pack of Skittles 4 weeks ago:
The largest cinema corporation in Sweden (when asked about why they chose to restrict people from bringing their own snacks) infamously compared bringing snacks not bought at the cinema to brining your own food to a restaurant.

No need for evidence. The idea of anyone being able to claim anything about a person without proof is inherently flawed. Are you saying that the app has some magical feature which forces everyone to tell the truth? No disgruntled ex can make up things about their previous partner? I would love to see you prove that.

Sounds good to me! With no mention of having to limit our internet usage.
You don’t have the power to decarbonize all electricity or to create and enforce laws to reduce the rate of e-waste. Until this changes, you have the power to limit your bandwidth usage, which is something that would result in less e-waste and less energy usage (and inherently less carbon emissions since all electricity isn’t decarbonized). You’re essentially saying “the paper says you can fix the problem in the future so I don’t give a fuck about the problem now”, which is not very bright.
And if reducing bandwidth waste really were that important, it would have go both ways anyway, with the providers optimising their content (probably forced to do so by regulations in some way).
My god. This might be the most naive thing I’ve ever read. This would be like saying “if carbon emissions were really that bad, oil and coal would be illegal”. Guess what? The climate will be (and has already been) irreversibly damaged if we don’t drastically reduce the amount of carbon fuel being used and no regulations have successfully come close to getting the necessary drastic reduction. Turns out everything that’s bad doesn’t magically get solved by regulations, especially when rich companies which rely on e.g. carbon fuel and bandwidth have major influence over politics due to their massive amount of resources.
