It sorta makes sense on overly censored social media platforms but what, that’s an article on their own personally managed website? That’s bizarre
- Comment on What could it hurt? 3 weeks ago:
Ah, good point actually. It’s been a long time but I remember now that keeping it good actually required freezing it in tinfoil
- Comment on What could it hurt? 3 weeks ago:
It’s actually possible to do this so I’m genuinely curious how many people would end up tripping. How many people would be willing to lick a random street flyer and how much LSD would you have to soak it with to let more than one person trip?

Maybe but you give them an inch and in a few years the ads will be targeted

AI has been better than this for quite some time now. I honestly miss this era of AI-generated images though. It was always immediately noticeably AI but created some absolutely vile Cronenberg-esque abominations that I’d consider a genuine art genre on its own. Now we just get realistic but slightly uncanny slop

Nothing teaches you about ohms, voltages, and amps better than a vaping hobby (unless you’re one of those that use a disposable

Regarding Jellyfin, if the PC you got has an Intel CPU then using Intel QuickSync would actually easily outperform the NVIDIA card for transcoding.
Up until very recently I was using a cheap i3 to power my Jellyfin instance that often has 5+ streams going at a time. (The only reason I upgraded was that I had a friend getting rid of an i7 from the same gen lol)
- Comment on Nvidia Announces DLSS 5, and it adds... An AI slop filter over your game 4 weeks ago:
I don’t like AI but christ Lemmy is getting annoying lately with kneejerk “slop” claims for anything with the letters AI in it. A lot of this stuff has been used for ages and yeah, they’re leaning into the current hype but the over reaction is just ridiculous (see: the “open slop” list of open source projects that includes those that have the audacity to allow developers the ability to use AI line completion)

Nah, you guys should form your own country though. We’d prefer to not adopt your MAGAs and even your left wing is concerning

For the Australianisation of Canada, I’d take it. Nigara Falls is sort of a Vegas wannabe tourist trap anyway outside of the falls themselves

Capitalising the word “war” as if it was a deity makes sense for an American politician

I’m 28 but I’d do it by not being American. Can we leave the American defaultism behind on Reddit?

- Comment on Kentucky bourbon and other alcohol exports to Canada drop by 63% year after Trump imposed steep tariffs 1 month ago:
Yeah it really pisses me off when media conveniently leaves that part off. If they’d actually ask any Canadian, they’d know that’s the part that makes the majority of us the most mad (but I’m sure they are aware of that already)
- Comment on What's the point of specifically Americans identifying with other cultures if people born there will just make fun of them for it? 1 month ago:
The trope is that the USA has no history of its own and so its people latch onto the smallest scraps of foreign heritage as a way to give themselves some cultural context and cachet.
I think this is fine in a vacuum but what gets really annoying is the simultaneous claim of being superior to any other nations and ignorance of the cultures they claim to be

As a Canadian, good and I hope they suffer. I even avoid buying whatever American food we do actually have on our shelves

Exact same for me. There’s a lot of QOL upgrades in 2 that I can’t play without anymore but at the same time, the game feels a lot more shallow compared to 1

Have you guys also noticed that we’ve barely heard anything about Kirk’s shooter compared to Luigi? I wonder if it’s because Kirk’s shooter isn’t quite as useful to them for painting the left as “violent criminals”
