Do you think AI did that on its own, or did a human come up with the gag and use AI to illustrate it for them, maybe because they were crap at drawing?

Yeah you’re right to be cautious. A random user ID and a state name is more than enough for the Feds to be able to figure out whose door to kick in.

- Comment on Former magistrate, 81, faces six months in jail for Palestine Action vigil 2 weeks ago:
What I don’t understand is why people are choosing to die on this hill. Supporting Palestine Action isn’t the only way to support Palestine, and if they’ve been essentially disbanded by the proscription (bank accounts frozen etc) then it isn’t even an effective way to give support in any meaningful sense. The banner “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine.” would be legal, and arguably more effective than the longer one because (in theory at least) it should be unopposed by law.
A quick search for “how to support palestine uk” found these pages among many others:

What’s the largest program, in line count (wc -l will be close enough, or open the file in Notepad++ and scroll to the end), that you’ve created this way?

- Comment on My first colonoscopy 4 weeks ago:
Would an AI have made this on its own though, or might someone have typed “Lego set My first colonoscopy [etc]” into an image generator? If the latter you can still laugh with the person that had the original idea even if they didn’t draw it themselves.

Oof, I thought it was only constipated mathematicians that had to work it out with a pencil.
- Comment on Since we're doing magic eyes now... 4 weeks ago:
They do work. It takes some practice to get them though. At first I used a pencil or something to focus on while I made the two dots merge together, stayed focussed on the pencil until my brain “saw” the image behind it, then it sort of locked in and I could take the pencil away. I’ve done so many of them now that I can just go crosseyed to bring the dots together, then look at the middle picture.
The 3D image works by tricking your brain into seeing a third image that isn’t really there. We’re used to constructing 3D images from two slightly different views; we do it all the time, so the two images are slightly different and when overlaid use the same mechanism to make you think it’s 3D.

Taggart sounds more like maggot than fan-art. Two example pronunciations here, the first closer to the latter but I think the second sounds closer to maggot: youtu.be/pb0CEn5YiIQ?t=94
Seems like an American thing to pronounce it “tag-arrrr-t”.

I think it’s the one that rhymes with Taggart. And is another word for a bassoon.

True. I ordered a book from them last week; it arrived in 2 days. Everywhere else, including Waterstones, was “oh we might be able to get it out the door sometime next year, if we can be arsed” so Amazon got the order.

For that to be a useful simile you’d need to use some kind of reversible fire.

I don’t recommend it. I tried increasing my electrolytic capacity once and found some little pills that seemed ideal. I had to eat a lot of them because they were only labelled “microfood” or something like that.
The hospital staff were all very unprofessional. They all giggled when they discharged me.

Well, yes and no. It’s true we started it. But then we had bigger fish to fry and handed it off to the UN. Who could have dissolved the whole thing and returned it to the previous state, but chose not to.

Civilised countries like the UK and other European countries. Technically it’s not free because it’s paid for by taxation, but it’s free at the point of use: if I go and see a doctor, I don’t get billed, but I do pay 9% National Insurance tax.

Americans are so dumb when it comes to timezones we could just assign Maintana to GMT+5, Washconsin GMT+6 and so on downwards. It wouldn’t make any difference to them and it’d be a lot more fun for the rest of us.
True story: “The meeting is at 1500 EDT”. “Your state is currently on EST so if I turn up at the specified time I’ll be an hour late. Are you sure it’s 1500 EDT and not 1500 EST?” “Yes, definitely 1500 EDT”. /me turns up at 1500 EDT to find the meeting has already finished.

Simple. We let them get away with it. Compare:
“Your PC is out of date” “Don’t be stupid, it’s only 2 years old and still works fine” with
“Your phone is out of date” “OK I’ll buy a new one”.
There needs to be a lot more of Answer A to Statement B.
