This is honestly the reason why it’s going downhill, forcing people to do Y or use Z because of some problem irrelevant to the question being asked.
It limits creativity and depth of discussion on a forum designed to discuss all principles of programming

Migrated away from Google because they’re just genuinely useless.
Search results are infested with AI bullshit and SEO slop, can’t actually search for anything useful unless you know the website you’re looking for, in which case I just go to the website directly.
Youtube curates a selection of completely irrelevant videos to try to shove ads down your throat, I still have to change my user agent string every time because YouTube throws a hissy fit at firefox with ublock.
Gmail is pretty much the same as any other email provider but comes at the expense of your data being sold for advertising purposes.
Don’t even get me started on the shit show that is Android.
I run GrapheneOS, Fedora and debian, self host what I can and use decent providers for what I can’t. I’m the furthest away from the big tech corps than I’ve ever been and it feels great to have computers that actually compute and not serve me useless fucking ad drivel.

Originally Reduce, Re-use, Recycle. Lots of insidious moves to push the onus onto consumers over the years but recycling’s not to blame.
Shit like the whole REDCycle debacle gives recycling a bad name but that’s just another example of corporations being shitty and not taking climate change seriously.

Damn dude, I’m glad you got so much out of FO4 I did one playthrough when it released and tried to play it again this year, barely got into it.
That’s when Bethesda died for me, didn’t find Skyrims simplifications all that good either but it was still a fun game
Feels like Bethesdas modus operandi is to make a game that appeals to everyone and that’s unfortunately coming at the cost of its established fan base

Pfft we got rid of that yonks ago, now you just have to have an AI rewrite your documentation as a million shitty tutorials that are all search-engine optimised on different websites and hope the user finds one semi-legible.
It’s a piece of piss, literally.

Watched my brother complete all MGS games under the hardest difficulty.
I think MGS4 was the hardest for him, under 5 hours, no continues, no health items, no kills or alerts on boss extreme difficulty.
He was a very angry teenager.

Smuggling is easier than you think, being stupid is a requirement for law enforcement. Especially in America
Just observe the system, go through a couple of times, you’ll see the cracks and should be able to figure it out from there, especially if it’s just to circumvent tariffs and not import illegal goods.
Ask yourself, is it worth the legal system to pursue this matter if it’s relatively minor?
Chances are you’ll just get a slap on the wrist, but there is ALWAYS risk when it comes to this stuff, so also ask yourself is it worth doing it in the first place?
Happy smuggling and remember borders are imaginary! :)

- Comment on I get that america is failing if it's duty to suppress the rise of fascist but did the rest of the world just put all its eggs in the america basket? 4 weeks ago:
After WW2 the world was split into 3 categories: first world (Western nations), second world (the Eastern bloc) and third world (everyone else)
America and the USSR both vyed and destabilised a lot of nations to solidify their place as super powers, America gained its power from the British when its economy shifted to war production to support them.
America made a lot of smart moves, like establishing the IMF so the US Dollar is used for international trade, and America has historically honoured all debts through the IMF.
So lots of nations had to kowtow to America to an extent if they wanted to have decent international trade.
Under Trump America is giving up its soft power for isolationism, and you can see a large portion of the world trying to shift away from Americas system through things like BRICS or incentivising different energy systems instead of oil
There is a lot more to this, but I think that’s at least a start to your question
- Comment on German experiment gave people a basic monthly income – the effect on their work ethic was surprising 5 weeks ago:
I get the point youre trying to make but a UBI is still a step in the right direction, I’d rather take the gamble and pay my taxes on it than have what we do now.
At the very least it would expose a lot of the systemic issues you’ve mentioned to the broader public, and hopefully that would lead to meaningful change.
I’d prefer a world where people are guaranteed the basics to survive without having to capitulate to the system, we have the technlogical progress and productive capabilities to do this we’re just not there in terms of societal progression.
And I’m going to continue advocating for that world, whether it’s UBI or unbiased infrastructure and systems to provide people with basic needs
- Comment on German experiment gave people a basic monthly income – the effect on their work ethic was surprising 5 weeks ago:
Artificially inflating prices to cancel out UBI would create economic incentive to undercut those corporations in a free market.
Government intervention could also be used in a less free market to ensure subsistence items aren’t artificially inflated, after that who cares if some company inflates their price? Go work if you want a new shiny thing.
You know what’s really good? Having a safety net to prevent the lowest suffering class of our society dying from things that we’ve been able to prevent for decades.
Having reduced crime because people aren’t fighting over scraps.
Having more mobility in society so people can pursure careers and education that aligns with their own self fulfilment goals.
Stop fighting against a better world for all of us please.

I wouldn’t say its hypocritical, but your points pretty valid a lot of people from different nationalities joined the war, but they did so on their own volition not through a state actor
What’s concerning is whether these soldiers were sent there by the Chinese military or if they did so on their own volition but I guess we just have to wait and see
