I agree and recognized that. I’m more emotionally upset about it tbh. The debates aren’t for the debaters, it’s to hopefully disillusion and remove indoctrinated fears from those on the fence willing to read them. It’s oft repeated there when people ask “what’s the point, same stupid debate for centuries.” Well religions unfortunately persist, and haven’t lost any ground globally. Gained, actually. Not our fault they have no new ideas.

I won’t tell you.about civiity because
How could that do anything besides shield the sealions, JAQoffs, and grifters?
Not shield, but amplify.
That’s the point of the subreddit. I’m not defending them if that’s at all how I came across.

Worthless research.
That subreddit bans you for accusing others of speaking in bad faith or for using ChatGPT.
Even if a user called it out, they’d be censored.

Less messy too when it’s white bread getting tacky in a ziplock baggy in a warm backpack. The chips adhere like glue.
Summers at various lakes memories.

I hear you but again I’ve left out an important detail. Those debate boards have moderators who are mostly checked out since the API drama, so the influx of morons using ChatGPT to “think” for them without getting banned has become intolerable and incredibly depressing when considering the long term implications of that among youth.
The positive feelings are an afterglow.

Honestly it’s two niche debate subs that kept me engaging that there’s no substitute for. I think with the reply button blocked I’ll be able to delete my account again soon. Yep I’ve relasped before.
…and I mainly used those subs to deprogram from my upbringing. That’s the real truth, I found it healing.

I’m almost there, I had to block the reply button with ublock origin. Quite the habitual addiction.
- Comment on YouTube says goodbye to decade-old video player UI, but users hate the new design 3 days ago:
Youtube 3rd party apps do nothing but deal with privacy issues and still rely on YouTube infra which means also dealing with the censorship and copyright systems. Meanwhile you’re just seen as a leech, including by creators since they get no ad rev from you watching. I adblock too, so that includes myself.
What are the viewers watching on alternative platforms with no video creators besides crypto bros and political extremists too edgy for YouTube?
Realistically I don’t see anything happening besides the usual tried and true method now:
Self own your own website so hard with repeat scandals until an exodus happens and hope it’s your new decentralized platform instead of another corpo centralized platform… which is most likely because the way I see it done is with big bags of money and contracts with creators.

Even on old reddit they have these annoying and constant “achievement” notifications now.

- Comment on YouTube says goodbye to decade-old video player UI, but users hate the new design 3 days ago:
Viewers can’t do shit but watch where the creators are. Up to creators to organize. I see tubers bitching about payment and copyright. Can cry me a river, if they only offer videos on a single platform.
I was perfectly fine with YouTube before monetization.

I really want to jam a pick tool into gas station pump speakers that blare ads.
I probably will if the oldest shell station that never updates their pumps does.

- Comment on Lenovo Cuts the Windows Tax and offers Cheaper Laptops with Linux Pre-installed 4 days ago:
My parents bought laptops together around 2013 that they still use today, just with new batteries and SSD upgrades.
Windows 10 was already pushing it, I had to do some funky things to stop Windows from overwriting old drivers with newer versions that broke stuff like the trackpads. Now they have Fedora KDE spin. The GUI is similar enough when all you do is use Thunderbird, Firefox, and the File Explorer.
Changing OS was still scary to them, so I just brought over a live USB for them to test drive.

I argue junk food commercials draw a lot of parallels with cigarette commercials of the past.
