It’s true and I love the newcomers. But my NES and N64 were both purchased at release and are still one-owner. And used regularly. I also have a 4070ti but I love those old systems.

One of my earliest experiences with the Internet was seeing a picture of a country girl in cowboy boots with a carrot up her ass and an ear of corn stretching her pussy. It was 1991. I also played bridge with people in Asia in the middle of the night.

I’m daily feeding a 15yo boy, two 17yo girls, a 20yo girl, a cat, and my wife and I. I thought my monthly food spending was too high 20 years ago when we were just expecting our first kid, we ate out a little more than we needed to. I’m spending triple that now, almost never eating out, and I make less than I did 20 years ago too. It’s completely unsustainable.

I came here to get away from Reddit. Not only is it becoming more and more like it, too many posts in my feed are about it. If I wanted to go back there I would. Haven’t been in at least 14 months. Please go to Reddit to complain about Reddit.

That’s what I was saying too. Maybe somewhere with much lower wages and cost of living.

2020 was hell, I got like eight days off and I had COVID twice. The first bout was after the vaccine was available but I wasn’t eligible because I was two years too young. It didn’t matter that I’m immuno-compromised. I barely got through that. A friend of mine shot himself because he couldn’t deal with it, he kept going to the emergency room and they kept sending him home.
My second bout with COVID after getting vaccinated was even worse. It was at least a month and I’m not at at all suicidal but I thought I wasn’t going to make it. I run a small nonprofit and we are still around for now, we’ll see in another few months. Nothing has been the same economically since then.

Okay I’m here but they’re saying if I don’t buy a sandwich I have to go. (We don’t have public transportation here.)

I don’t know where the person who commented that lives, but you can’t get an Uber five blocks for under $10 around here. If I was that close and walkable I’d just walk. I do know uber is losing drivers locally though because they don’t pay enough, certainly not enough for people to maintain their cars. It’s predatory employment at this point, and it is becoming normalized.

I was just commenting on a thread about public transportation (there’s none where live) and someone commented that they’re moving to micro transportation by just buying a $3 Uber every time they need to go somewhere. Even if uber is only taking $1 of that, $2 isn’t paying someone to drive you somewhere. Uber drivers should make at least $30/hr.

It was pretty rough for our house. Really rough. My city could get nuked and it wouldn’t be a whole lot worse.

Make that 2007 and now you’re communicating the tip of the iceberg.
