Sorry, that part was not meant to imply you specifically want to reduce safety standards, just that if you want to have it be competitive on the energy market, you would have to do something about that, or subsidise it by an absurd amount.
But the point still stands, nuclear energy is expensive, and it’s not because of subsidies to other energy sources. Please don’t claim so next time.

I’m pretty sure it’s not subsidies, but safety standards. I’m not trying to pretend to understand Lazards “levelized cost of electricity”, and their graphs are seem to be off by 20 or I don’t read them correctly, but they are at least very clear that subsidies are taken out when they make their comparison. Nuclear is still the most expensive no matter how you slice it (except rooftop residential solar, but I think that gets around paying energy providers or something). Anyway, I’m more willing to trust them than the world nuclear association on if nuclear is price competitive.
I’ll grant you a better argument for next time: Nuclear is incredibly safe compared to other energy sources, but is uniquely held to a way higher safety standard than anything else. And reducing the cost of nuclear by reducing safety standards actually is unpopular, so politicians don’t do it and the cost keeps rising.
I’d still disagree on loosening safety restrictions, but at least that would be true.

- Comment on Why are people using the "þ" character? 2 weeks ago:
Interesting what’s written here, I actually saw it more often in some Discord server. As far as I know, there it is just for fun and/or homestuck nostalgia, without any deeper meaning behind it.
Just like calling X “twitter” or “the hellsite”, or annotating everything with parenthesis, or using or refusing to use emoji, there does not need to be more of a reason to do something with written language than “I like it that way”. How much stylisation you can inject into your writing before you stop being comprehensible is another question.

“Vegetable” is a culinary term. It does not mean “plant”, it is not the opposite of the botanical “fruit”. It means “We use this in culinary traditions similarly to other vegetables”.
Pumpkin, Squash and Mushrooms all fit into soup and not into fruit salads, so they’re all vegetables. Cucumbers are veggies for fitting into actual salads, though they’re only like a few good decades of selective breeding away from being full culinary fruits. These are not exact definitions, but, like most things in life, messy definitions are often the most useful ones.
Since “vegetable” only has a definition as a culinary term, I really don’t get why people get so hung up on it. It’s not like “nut” or “berry”, whose culinary a botanical definitions couldn’t be in more of a disagreement.
- Comment on Honestly Bizarre 3 weeks ago:
Fruit has a botanical and a culinary definition.
Vegetable only has a culinary definition.
Trying to decide on what food fits which category purely on the botanical definition of fruit is silly. In many other languages, the botanical and culinary definition even use completely different words. It’s like saying lobster is red meat using the scientific definition of red.
But if we are having fun with this, rhubarb: definitely no fruit, far too sweet to fit nicely into vegetable.

As they say in the article, it’s gambling. Gambling is inherently irrational.
Same way people won’t pay 5$ to take a 50% chance to earn 6$, but some will consider a 0.00005% chance to earn 6,000,000$. If the extreme’s are worth enough, some people just focus on that instead of considering the odds.

Yeah, Japanese media really goes hard into this blind box merch. Be it these Figurines, Gachapon machines or the new years tradition of Fukubukuro.
It’s all unregulated gambling as far as I care, ban it all. Be it from there or homegrown, preying on the gambling addicts is just scummy.

Judging by the comments, reading the article seems to be a lost art. Here’s the image for y’all:
It’s very specifically about 18-24 year olds, compared to last year, with video games seeing the steepest decrease.
You can stop complaining about games being soulless, unless you want to claim that wasn’t a problem last year. Compared to last year, this age group has felt the need to cut back at everything more so than anyone else.

Ah yes, the “it’s been 3000 years” guy, genuinely one of the series best moments.
What else was there? The villain? Whack. The champ? Whack. The prof? Whack. The 5 rivals? Whack. I don’t think 2 great scenes make a good story, no matter how elaborate the lore.
Thank you for your input, but I won’t leave my mountain to fight you on your hill.

Yeah, we’re all mad, fuck the suits and all that.
But why does the distinction between “real-world adult material” and “creative, non-realistic”, “artistic, animated works” that “do no harm” matter? Last time I checked, realistic adult material can be just as artistic, and the harm done by negligently letting children watch it seems comparable.
Are they in favour of age verification for “uncreative, realistic” pornography, or is the real distinction just between real-life and online?

“Are red pandas carnivores or herbivores?” “They eat like 80% bamboo, so herbivores.” “Wrong! They are taxonomically in the order carnivora, making them carnivores! Please ignore that carnivore also just means meat eater and herbivore isn’t even a taxonomic clade. People only ever talk to me to get mad at this switching between casual and scientific definitions, I am nothing without it.”

If you visit the official website of krafton www.krafton.com/en/ you should get this pop up:
Basically, Krafton claims that the 3 founders they fired did not do their job in overseeing the project, leading to a game without any direction. Since the game would not meet their standards, they decided to rework a lot and push the release date back.
This is an official statement of a company, meaning they can be (and if I read it correctly have been) sued for slander should they lie here. So a legal department looked over this and decided “Yep, we can claim that they abandoned responsibilities, we can prove that in court”. That’s really bad.

Fairly certain what you describe is what they meant with inflation proof compared to a fixed price.
In any case, I imagine most Patreon creators have over time adjusted their reward tiers, or gathered more Patreon supporters to keep up with how Inflation affects their costs, thus giving more to Patreon. Both the company and creators would benefit here.
Instead, increasing the (average) percentage just helps the company at the cost of creators. To make their pay keep up with inflation, they still need to either increase the number of supporters or the price of rewards, so the company benefits doubly.
There seem to be enough alternatives that only charge a 5% fee, so this might just lose Patreon money if enough Creators see this as a step too far.
