It’s a joke, they’re talking about white people.
- Comment on G7 Countries Spend 62 Times More on Military Than Humanitarian Aid 2 weeks ago:
That’s even deceiving since most of that foreign aid is military aid that has to be spent on the giving country’s arms.
American foreign aid is just a subsidy for domestic industry.

But chinese people have protests all the time. Do you think they all get disappeared? Or did the media make that shit up so you don’t feel bad about the US doing the same shit? I remember journalists getting hacked under the Obama admin, random people getting black bagged during 2020. And those were the rare moments where they were effective. 99% of the time it’s unnecessary as the media is quite effective at shutting down criticism of the government. Just look at the coverage of student protests.

Nah, taking property from billionaires is good, it leaves them with less capability to buy politicians.

What would the UK be importing spices for?
- Comment on Arizona accuses Amazon of being a monopoly and deceiving consumers with “dark patterns” 1 month ago:
major diplomatic and economic blow to the USA.
See? Even more reason to!
But really though, the US can extract any data or other concession they want from Amazon already, it would only change the perceptions of foreign countries who aren’t paying attention.
- Comment on Arizona accuses Amazon of being a monopoly and deceiving consumers with “dark patterns” 1 month ago:
Nationalize Amazon. Yes all of it.
The number of government functions that use AWS alone makes it a matter of national security.
- Comment on Funny, those guys don't usually agree on that much 1 month ago:
Liberals do not belong in left spaces, left is literally defined by anticapitalism.
- Comment on Funny, those guys don't usually agree on that much 1 month ago:
It means you support capitalism, hence why “liberalization of the economy” means selling off public utilities, land, and resources.
- Comment on In this house we share the bananas 1 month ago:
That’s not capitalism, that’s just a market.
It’s only capitalism when one monkey owns the means of production and starts paying another money a wage while taking the wealth they produce.
- Comment on How ‘Zionist’ became a slur on the US left 1 month ago:
Like religion, you have to look at the context of nationalism, it can be a liberatory force in the context of oppression; look at the Viet Minh and the IRA.

You wouldn’t spend an hour and a half to visit me? That seems like you don’t like me very much.
I have some family I visit for a weekend 2-3 times a year, a bit over 400 miles away. It’s a 5.5 hour trip I can knock out in a morning or after work.
- Comment on this picture is 27kb 1 month ago:
How is 100 miles a long way? It’s like an hour and a half.
- Comment on Choose your difficulty 1 month ago:
One of the big problems with HDI is that it fails to consider inequality and non-individual income; a country with 1 person making 1B/y and 999 people living in abject poverty gets the same per capita GNI as a country of 1000 people making 1m/y who have free housing, transport, and healthcare.
The latter obviously has better conditions for more people.

Hence why they needed the Meat Shaped Stone and the Jade Cabbage, so they could reverse engineer the ancient technology that allowed them to transmit food into rock.

You can’t shoot things into orbit with a battleship cannon, the acceleration is just too great for a rocket to survive. You can shoot them very high, but not into orbit.
Space guns have to be very, very big to shoot a rocket at a survivable speed.
Iraq had a space gun project, but Israel assassinated it’s chief engineer.

- Comment on Saudi Arabia: Halt Executions of Child Offenders 1 month ago:
The only case the death penalty seems socially useful is when it’s used for major white-collar crimes (eg, faking emissions, reducing testing for asbestos in talc products, reducing testing for listeria in baby formula, mass predatory lending resulting in millions of foreclosures, knowingly lying to promote war), since very few murders are doing cost-benefit analysis of murder, whereas these guys absolutely do consider potential consequences.
- Comment on Saudi Arabia: Halt Executions of Child Offenders 1 month ago:
So they wait until they’re 18 to charge them?
That’s not meaningfully different! Also common in America.
- Comment on Saudi Arabia: Halt Executions of Child Offenders 1 month ago:
Wait, Saudi Arabia executes fucking children?

While I like the scientific method, I am certainly not willing to try the same thing again and see if just as many people die a second time.
Capitalism kills far more people, by design. While the famine in the USSR was due to wide-spread drought, unlike the man-made famine that would kill millions in Bengal a few years later.
I am interested in examining any modern plan to see if I can see issues in it or if it looks like it could work and is worth supporting.
You cannot understand present society, let alone have a model that can predict future developments with any reliability if you don’t learn history.
But if you want to understand economics, you’re gonna have to read a book on economics.
Lenin’s Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism is good if you’re more interested in higher-level detail than Marx talking about linen.
State and Revolution is more history and provides analysis of communist projects.

You shouldn’t be calling others dumb or uneducated.
