That doesn’t always happen, look at the massacres in South Korea before the end of the dictatorship.
The numbers on wikipedia are lower than actual numbers as questioning them could literally get you executed, the official number for the Gwangju uprising for instance is 165, but the city recorded an extra 2300 deaths above historical averages for May. That doesn’t include thousands who were arrested, many of whom sentenced to death.

- Comment on Solar modules now selling for less than €0.06/W in Europe 6 days ago:
Maybe in the UK when each plants is basically unique instead of having improvements from all the previous iterations. In the US it’s around 92%. I don’t know how to search China or France’s numbers, but I suspect they’re similar or better.
- Comment on Solar modules now selling for less than €0.06/W in Europe 6 days ago:
A MW of solar averages out to about .2 MW/h per hour. A MW of nuclear averages about .9 MW/h per hour.
But even so as the UK does it, nuclear power isn’t worth it. France and China are better examples since they both picked a few designs and mass produced them.

McDonalds is already on the BDS list for giving free food to the IOF. Which isn’t difficult because it’s garbage food at the price of real food.

Why are they doing an ad for mcdonalds?

How strong were particle accelerators back then?
The only case I know of a dude sticking their head in a particle accelerator was in 1978. His head became quite swollen and he had radiation burns. He’s still alive at 82.
There’s also the Therac-25, that was pretty noticible.

Except for the bourgeoisie, most fascists are tricked or indoctrinated into supporting fascism though. Grandma doesn’t support fascism because she will benefit, but because she’s been told the most marginalized people in society are exploiting her and the fascists promise to stop that.

Because Crysis looked good, Chris Roberts mandated that Star Citizen would use Cryengine 3.
To make astronomically large spaces fit in cryengine, they made everything infinitesimally small.
So now the inaccuracy inherent in floating point calculations, instead of nudging things a few millimeters, teleports people hundreds of feet out of their ships into space if they bump into a physics object, ladder, elevator, etc.
This is what happens when an ideas guy with no technical knowledge is making technical decisions.

Lemmy just can’t handle someone who’s anti-genocide
They can’t when that stance conflicts with their party. Hence why “The dems need to stop the genocide, people are not going to vote for genocide” gets you downvoted.
“fuck Biden for arming Israel” meme that has 1,500 upvotes
Those exist on .world? I see a lot more “You have to vote for genocide because trump would do genocide and also other bad things”.
- Comment on Robot moderation could be coming to your town 5 weeks ago:
Maybe, but conservatism is considered much more acceptable among Americans than anything left of liberalism. Particularly now when the dems are trying to reach out to conservatives. You can check by whether you’ve been banned from PleasentPolitics
legally” and “Illegal
Adding “this should be done according to the law” doesn’t divorce an action from its morality.
Rounding up millions of immigrants, some whom have been here for decades, and nearly all of whom are here because they’re fleeing the effects of the US constantly couping their governments and training/funding terrorists is an immoral action, whether they’re legal or illegal.
- Comment on Robot moderation could be coming to your town 5 weeks ago:
At one point I tried to illustrate with data just how big a jerk you have to be before it starts banning you. If you’re interested, I can start doing that again.
Would you?
My understanding is that downvotes reflect whether or not someone agrees with a post or comment much more than whether the user is making a constructive comment or not so they can only be used to infer how agreeable the comment is.
I’ve also offered to delve, for any user who feels that this has happened to them, into the breakdown of why they’re being ranked down, which almost always is because they’re being a jerk about their “dissenting” opinion, and not the opinion itself.
Use me as an example, I regularly get dozens of downvotes for such hot takes as “supporting genocide is hurts the dems chances of getting elected, we need them to stop that if we want them to win.”.
- Comment on Robot moderation could be coming to your town 5 weeks ago:
So it would delete people’s posts if they get downvoted a lot or if the poster tends to upvote heavily downvoted posts?
You’ve automated the suppression of dissenting voices.

A thousand people can take guesses, but only a skilled player can say “Oh yeah, that foliage looks like San Juan or some other mountainous region of Argentina”, or “That black electrical tape is a Nigeria thing”

Honestly, that sounds exactly like what the CIA will produce when they need people to support censorship or just discourage people from listening to counter-narratives, the same way they supported the production of Zero Dark Thirty and Homeland when they wanted to support torture and unaccountability.
