- Comment on It's almost impossible to deny being an alcoholic without sounding like an alcoholic 11 months ago:
Nope. It works for those it works for. It is social, not scientific. There is no possible way to measure it’s effectiveness because you can’t monitor the entire lives of everyone who has wandered into a meeting. For myself, I had no intention of quitting but went ro a meeting because a feiend asked me to. I never drank again after my very first meeting in 2004. Many, many others had relapse repeatedly. Others did not. But there is no way to know what the success rate is because nobody knows who we are or if we’ll ever drink again before we die. It is a program of suggestion only, with no requirements.
- Comment on SpaceX blasts FCC as it refuses to reinstate Starlink’s $886 million grant 11 months ago:
And yet HE gets all the money and glory for doing nothing but acting like an asshole.
What should happen is that he be removed from all of these compenies and replaced with a competent leader…and no, Musk is NOT a competent leader.
- Comment on SpaceX blasts FCC as it refuses to reinstate Starlink’s $886 million grant 11 months ago:
Well you know we get that mentality by observing what he does, listening to what he says, seeing who he keeps company with, and paying attention to the demeanor of the people under him. It’s not very complicated.

There is no greater fucking idiot than the one who thinks a social gathering for discussion is subject to the rules of double-blind scientific testing. Watching some arrogant fucking shithead attempting to slander 12-stop programs as “not scientific” is hilarious because OF COURSE IT ISN’T SCIENTIFIC!! IT MAKES NO CLAIMS TO BE.

A bit hyperbolic there. The road didn’t cut across an island; it went from Ulupalakua to Kihei; nearly a straight line that cut out about 30 miles of travelling. It was voted closed because idiots who lived upcountry didnt want any tourists from Kihei driving into their area. What it did was punish those who worked in the resorts but couldnt afford to live nearby. Oprah bought the road because it was offered to her when the residents voted it closed.
Tl;dr: Oprah is a piece of shit but Kula residents are bigger pieces of shit

Since all you’re doing is whining like a little hippie shit and presenting nothing to support your case then no I don’t give a fuck about anything you have to say about it. So far all I know is that you’re just making this up as you go along. You really are awful at this, and it’s no surprise that you don’t get any support.

I dont understand. What is your point? Is it that having an extra 1.8 million barrels burned is good? Is it that Power Plant + ICE cars is cleaner than Power Plant - ICE cars? Hiw is it that you people keep getting hopping mad every time progress is made? What do you gain? Why do your feefees get hurt? What is the big “gotcha” that you keep trying to make?

It’s the chord progression for everyone one of those shitty emo christian praise songs. It’s also the chord progression of Better Than Ezra’s “Good”; most pop songwriter hits; and probably your local bank’s tv commercial mood music

Lots of good advice in here; thanks!
I’m not going sledgehammer; I’ve been gradually stepping away for a long time. There’s a few things I can’t give up yet but I keep them to a minimum while trying to persuade others in the social mediasphere to join me in circumventing the Big Tech DataWhores. I’m still paying for YT premium (sad); I have FB only to use Messenger with a couple of people. I already use DDG, Mastodon, Lemmy, MeWe, DropBox, Protonmail. I am not going so far as to self-host…I dont have the time or money for that.
Hopefully some more ideas show up here and are helpful to others who feel the same as I do. Thanks!
