Back in the early 2000's I had a recruiter call my house asking for me, creepy AF.

- Comment on Hey, I'm new to GitHub! 8 months ago:
You can usually find step by step instructions for fixing most cars. My library has a subscription to Chilton online, so I can use it from home and look at repair procedures and wiring diagrams. Just use forums and YouTube to fill in the gaps. I've even diagnosed a car from Amazon reviews since I suspected a certain part was bad and looked at reviews that said the exact symptoms.

because the most powerful people in the world are bumbling fools with no sense of security.
Seems pretty accurate actually.
- Comment on How do conspiracy theorists get all of their coveted secret government information if it's meant to be hidden and the government would never hand it over? 9 months ago:
Like you said, it's a theory you can look at available data and draw conclusions. The term "conspiracy theory" is used to make anybody they want look less credible.
We know that the government was aware of something that was going to happen in 9/11 but they say they didn't have enough information. We also know that the government allowed perl harbor to happen so they could have an excuse to join the war. Did the government know what was going to happen on 9/11 and intentionally allowed it to happen? I'm sure I found dig up compelling information. We already know what happened in response to 9/11.

There was a bunch of downtime over the holidays. I assumed it was due to the Lemmy update withholding posts for several days and then flooding kbin. It doesn't bother me in the slightest and I have multiple fediverse accounts.
- Comment on Border Crisis: Shocking Data Reveals Illegal Immigrants Outnumber American Births 10 months ago:
Although illegal migration numbers haven't changed much since 2005, the demographics of illegal immigrants have. It's important to ask why people are illegally migrating into the u.s. A more effective strategy would be to address those issues, especially because the u.s. greatly contributed to destabilizing South and Central America.

- Comment on Border Crisis: Shocking Data Reveals Illegal Immigrants Outnumber American Births 10 months ago:
The u.s. birt rate has been declining since the 2007 recession. It also declined during the great depression. This is a failing of u.s. economic policy. There's not enough regulations on businesses and the middle class is suffering. Many people don't think it's responsible to bring children into the world when there's no hope for a decent future for them.

- Comment on Instances in the free fediverses should consider "transitive defederation" from instances that federate with Meta 10 months ago:
I envision brands creating their own instances that federate with Meta. Then you can get an exclusive Gucci account for some absurd amount of money and use it to flex on the plebs.

The Israeli government isn't the sole representation for all Jewish people. Calling people antisemitic for statements they make about Israeli policy is just an ultra right wing tactic people use when they can't back up what they're saying.

I think it has a lot to do with the American election. The Israeli government has put the Biden administration in a real bind now. If they don't support Israel, they lose the Jewish vote. Now they are losing young people by supporting Israel. Israel greatly benefits from Republicans.
- Comment on Planning on setting up Proxmox and moving most services there. Some questions 10 months ago:
You want to have at least 3 if you're going to do that. I usually use the one on the mobo for all the other services and management. Then a dedicated port for lan and wan on a separate nic.

- Comment on Should instances defederate with other instances anymore if we can filter instances out on our end? 10 months ago:
The way activity pub works is that a user subscribes to something and then the content gets copied to your server. If you allow a user to subscribe to whatever they want, then you're just going to get illegal content stored on your server.

- Comment on The Fastest Growing Demographic In The Workforce? People Over Age 75 11 months ago:
For a long time there weren't any new jobs or wage growth because boomers weren't retiring due to the 07' financial crises. It took at least 5 years or more for things to really settle from that. Then the Fed never raised interest rates when they should have. Then they couldn't lower them during the pandemic and had to print a bunch of money to dig the economy out of a hole and now we're here.
