This has been going on for years.
People used to find an almost dead crypto-coin, buy up as many coins as possible, and then pretend they were developing back from the dead. Then they would cash out.
- Comment on Microsoft stealthily installs Windows 10 update to nag you to upgrade to Windows 11 – and not for the first time 1 week ago:
My CPU is not supported. I don’t need faster hardware, my computer is able to do everything I need it to right now.
I do not want to buy more hardware just to support an incremental OS update.
I’m dual booting now.

- Comment on California's richest cities were told to build housing—but made it a crime to be homeless instead 4 weeks ago:
SF says the people they are doing this to have not accepted the city’s very limited options for housing.
There was recent article (help me find it) detailing there are over over 200 SF non-profits focused on housing funded by less than 10 govt agencies.

I live in Oakland an moderate (post) to the Oakland community.
I don’t recall all the details right now but… I think they tell all the people leave and then throw everything left in the trash.

Currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area and see this happening in several cities. San Francisco is the largest example. They have made building new housing a nightmare of red tape yet they are going full steam ahead with clearing out the homeless people.

- Comment on Solar will get too cheap to connect to the power grid. 2 months ago:
Already happening in Northern California. PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric), which is a FOR-PROFIT utility, reduced the price it pays individuals for selling extra power to the grid. The reason cited was there is too much power being sold at the wrong time of day.
Take a look at California ISO to see real-time graphs of electricity generation and usage.
Solar is currently generating about 50% of total electricity. A percentage of that is going to batteries.
- Comment on Smart sous vide cooker to start charging $2/month for 10-year-old companion app 2 months ago:
My last two TVs were dumb ones.
It is getting harder find dumb TVs because the smart stuff included with most TVs subsidizes keeping the initial price low. Manufactures are betting millions of dollars purchasers will sign up for the monthly apps.

It has the 2.2L which doesn’t have the head gasket issue. But, it probably would have lasted longer if the timing belt was changed as recommended.

Yes. It has Forrester struts.
It’s had some engine troubles and I’m spending way too much to get them corrected.

I see the down votes.
I assume they are not allowed but are somehow happening. This post was to inform the mods and see if their was a policy change.
I’ll edit my post.

Reality TV is cheaper to produce than scripted shows. Profit is the reason all they show is reality shows.
